Two days past the 2023 Tata Nexon got unveiled, and Tata Motors have dropped another bomb in the market. As the ICE Tata Nexon gets a complete makeover, then why not the Silent, and Pocket Friendly - Electric Tata Nexon?
Yes, Tata Motors have released a teaser for their 2023 Tata Nexon EV, and it packs the formula to make it sell like hotcakes again. So, without wasting any time, let us dive deep into the 2023 Tata Nexon EV.
The very first change which is about to take place is in its name itself. As Tata Motors recently launched their sub brand, under which they will be launching their further and current EVs.
The main motive of this particular sub brand is actually to give the Tata EVs a different name, and all it consists of is a ‘.ev’ name tag at last.
The differentiation has finally been made between the ICE Tata Nexon & the Tata Nexon.ev. In the past, where the brand differentiated both of the cars by adding blue colour accents over the EV version, yet no design change was given to it; though it was till some extent accepted, but, a noticeable design change would have been heavily appreciated too. And thus, the 2023 Tata Nexon.ev finally gets it!
Over here, we can see that the Nexon.ev will have a different looking Front fascia, which also holds some huge chances of being completely packed, unlike the older Nexon EV - which carried forward the same Grille design as the ICE Nexon. And EVs don't really need Air Dams, as they run on batteries. So overall, it was quite difficult at times to identify which Nexon is being driven at the rear of you, whether it is the EV one or the ICE one.
But, this fully packed front fascia will give a definite identity to the 2023 Tata Nexon.ev, which ultimately will help to distinguish itself from the ICE 2023 Tata Nexon.
The connected DRLs, we first saw them in the Tata Curvv concept, though it didn’t really look like a close to production aspect at that particular time. But, then in the 2023 Auto Expo, which was held in Delhi, Tata Motors showcased a pretty much production ready version of their Harrier.ev. And there the Harrier.ev packed the connected DRLs feature. And the same has been moved on to the 2023 Tata Nexon.ev.
With respect to the teaser, the 2023 Tata Nexon.ev will have its DRLs connected - with a LED strip, unlike its ICE version. And as we discussed about the point of differentiation earlier, this small addition in the DRLs, further adds value to the point even more.
And it also seems that in the future, most probably all the Tata EV SUVs will have their DRLs connected, as we first saw them in the Tata Curvv EV concept, then in Harrier.ev concept, and then now in Nexon.ev teaser itself.
Secondly, this ‘connected DRLs’ feature also brings one more change, which is that the Matte Black strip or the Humanity line - which holds the DRLs in the ICE version - won’t be carried in the EV version of the Nexon. Instead, that particular area will be plain, and body coloured.
Currently, the Tata Nexon EV is available as two different cars, one with a small battery pack- Tata Nexon EV Prime, and the other with a larger battery pack - Tata Nexon EV Max. But, remember they are not sold as variants, they are sold as two different cars.
So, as Tata Motors have already taken a different approach in terms of variant names of the ICE Nexon, maybe we could see the same happening with these two differently sold Electric Nexons - they might get sold together, variant-wise .
As the older Tata Nexon EV got its gear knob crystalized, the same could be done to the 2023 Tata Neoxn.ev. And maybe some changes could also be seen in the Center Console layout, as it might get a different drive selector.
Except this, chances are high that Tata Motors will have the interiors of the Nexon.ev unchanged, as in the ICE Nexon.
The 2023 Tata Nexon.ev will most probably be running on two kinds of batteries, obviously in two different avatars.
The First battery would be smaller, yet it would be a battery pack for its Base variant too. It will be a 30 kWh battery pack, producing 74 hp & 170 Nm of Torque. Talking about its real world Range, this Nexon might go up to 200 - 250 Kms on a single charge. And this Nexon.ev might also be called the Tata Nexon.ev Prime (chances are moderate).
The 2023 Tata Nexon.ev's price might get updated , as new features, and a new design has debuted with it. So, we expect its starting price to rise up till ₹15.5 lakhs and go further till its top variant ₹18 lakhs.
It is a big question mark, right? Well, Tata Motors have officially revealed the 2023 Tata Nexon.ev’s debuting date, which is on September 7, 2023. And further it will be launched on September 14, 2023.
