When the 2024 Nexon Facelift was launched, it was quite difficult to digest the fact that a car costing between ₹8 lacs to ₹16 lacs would get so much in terms of technology. It kind of set a benchmark for the rivals. Well, today, one of its rivals has arrived with a Facelift that promises to give pure, tough competition to the Nexon, the 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift. Let us get into today’s topic of the 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift unveiled, which gets ADAS and a Sunroof.

As this happens to be a facelift, it is evident that the 2024 Kia Sonet has gone through some minimal changes. We can see, overall, the structure of the design happens to be identical. So, what has changed, you ask? Let us talk about it.  

New LED Headlamps -

The 2024 Sonet welcomes the first change of its fascia, being the Headlamps itself. The Headlamps on the 2024 Sonet facelift get three independent LED reflectors to light up the road ahead. These reflectors are placed horizontally beside each other.

New LED DRLs -

Above the Headlamps, a completely new unit of LED DRL has been placed. Earlier, the DRLs were simply horizontal LED strips with one nice curve at the end, but this time, the design of the DRL has been extended and taken downwards, with more of an angular design. It also looks like the ones in the Mahindra XUV700, but it does not matter, as they are not a total copy-paste, and they look good on the Sonet, too.

New LED Fog lamps -

Next, right at the bottom of the front, we can spot a new placement for the LED Foglamps. But, this particular positioning is limited to a few variants of the Sonet only. Otherwise, the rest of the variants will have their foglamps placed right below the LED DRLs’ ending.

New Front Grille  -

Kia’s traditional Tiger Nose grille still continues to be on the Sonet, but this time around, it seems to have gotten bigger in size. In the pre-facelift Sonet, the grille was simple with a complete gloss black treatment. Now, on the 2024 Sonet Facelift, the Grille happens to be spread out, with metallic finished elements over it. These elements match their color with the single-piece metallic line running from one headlamp to the other at the lower border of the Grille.

New Air Dams  -

The 2024 Sonet also gets a new design for its primary air dams. Earlier, they were small, but on the new 2024 Sonet, the size happens to have taken a step up. It is bigger and broader, comparatively. It also has gotten a bit more open in terms of its design. 

Secondly, we can also see one more air dam placed just below the front grille. It is sort of a horizontal opening.

New Dual Tone Alloy wheels  -

The 2024 Sonet facelift also gets a revision for its alloy wheels, but there is no single option for the alloy wheels. There are a total of three alloy wheel options, one of which can be seen in the given picture. All of the three alloy wheels happen to have the Dual Tone design as standard, except for lower variants, as they will just have a wheel cover.

New LED Tail lamps  -

The trend of connected Tail lamps has pulled the 2024 Kia Sonet as well. The 2024 Sonet gets a connected Tail lamp, which at times might also look like the one on its elder brother, the Seltos. The 2024 Sonet gets a simple, straight LED Tail lamp that runs from one end to the other. It packs a simple approach in terms of its design, as it does not have any kind of unique curve as other Kia cars have.

New Rear Diffuser treatment  -

The 2024 Kia Sonet also gets a revised diffuser treatment, which looks way better than the one in the pre-facelift. Earlier, the diffuser on the pre-facelift model was a lot busy in terms of its design, and there were too many elements of design added in one place, which sometimes made it look cluttered. But, this time, Kia has cleared that clutter and made it look more clean and proportionate to the rest of the body.

In the interiors, the 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift holds very minimal changes. Whatever has been revised, though, looks very promising and also gives a fresh experience being inside. Still, the benchmark set by the Nexon has not been surpassed by the Kia Sonet concerning its interiors. Anyway, let us get into the changes and additions made in the interiors of the 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift.

New 10-inch Color TFT Instrument Cluster  -

The pre-facelift model was used to get a semi-digital Instrument cluster that was quite basic and simple in terms of its appearance. But, this time around, Kia has joined hands with the Nexon, as the 2024 Sonet facelift brings in a full-color TFT Instrument Cluster. 

This is a 10-inch unit, which provides plenty of useful information to the Driver. The interface of this Instrument Cluster is quite simple, as it has two primary digital rotary dials that can be changed in terms of their looks based on the Driving modes, and they also display the Blind-view Camera. Between these two rotary dials, there happens to be an area where you can browse through all the information present on that screen.

Revised 10-inch Color TFT Infotainment Cluster  -

The reason we added ‘Revised’ is because, even the pre-facelift model of the Sonet used to get a 10-inch Infotainment unit, but the interface was different. Over the 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift, we are provided with the same 10-inch Infotainment System, but it packs the interface that we have seen in Kia Carens. 

It is a well-distributed interface, which is very clear and simple to read and operate. It connects to the usual Android Auto and Apple Car Play.

The 2024 Sonet, being a Kia, after all, will get a long list of features to attract potential customers. Already, the Sonet had enough gimmicky features, but it seems that Kia stepped up even higher as per its standards. Let us talk about the Top features of the 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift.

Three Driving Modes -

The 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift gets a set of three Driving modes - Eco, Normal, and Sport. These three Driving modes can be used for their own specific purposes, like the Eco Driving mode for economical driving so that you can achieve optimum Fuel efficiency. The Normal Driving mode is the basic of all, and the 2024 Sonet will be running on that mode as standard. Lastly, the Sport Driving mode is for a more sportier and exciting driving feel.

Three Traction Modes -

Now, Kia has also added the feature of Traction modes, which will give an option of driving on three different terrains - Snow, Mud, and Sand. These can be used for light off-roading on their particular type of terrains, but we shall not expect any kind of heavy off-road ability from the 2024 Sonet having these modes.

Ventilated Seats -

The Sub-4-meter SUV segment is where the feature of ventilated seats begins. It was first seen in the mighty Nexon, which led a few others to get equipped with it as well. The Front row of seats, having Driver’s and Co-Driver’s seats, are the ones equipped with this feature.

4-way Electric Adjustment for Driver's Seat -

After its sibling, the Venue, introduced this feature, now, even the Sonet gets this feature. The sub-4-meter SUV segment also happens to be the cheapest segment to have this feature. 

The 4-way electric adjustability, as said, is only for the Driver’s seat. You can recline the seat’s angle, which makes it two-way, and then you can also move the seat front and back, which adds the other two ways of adjustability.

360-Degree Camera System -

The 2024 Sonet adds a new feature of the 360-degree camera system that seems to be pretty good in terms of its quality, but we need to see it more in real-life conditions, where the light effect could vary. 

Otherwise, it is a very convenient and good feature to have in your hands.

Level 1 ADAS -

The 2024 Kia Sonet now packs the second most loved feature, which is ADAS. It gets a Level 1 ADAS, which brings in a slew of safety features -

India’s most loved feature, the sunroof, was already there in the Sonet, and the 2024 version of Sonet happens to continue having it, too. It is a regular-sized sunroof that can be opened electronically.

The underdog of useful features, the Auto-Dimming IRVM comes in handy a lot in busy driving conditions. So, Kia decided to add that to the 2024 Sonet Facelift as well. The Auto-Dimming IRVM also gets the SOS feature.

Air Purifier -

Sonet already had the feature of an Air Purifier as standard, and fortunately, it carries on that particular feature even now. It is situated inside the hood of the front Armrest. The Air Purifier also has a feature for bacteria and virus protection.

2024 Kia Sonet Facelift Powertrain

The Sonet already had a total of three engines with different transmission options, and even in the 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift, we will get the same set of engines.

1.2 L Naturally Aspirated Petrol Engine -

This engine is available in all the variants, starting from base to top. It is a naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, which makes about 82 hp and 115 Nm of Torque. This engine is only available in one Transmission option, which is a 5 MT. This particular engine also happens to be the most popular option among the other two engines. If you just want to have an economical engine for city use and a bit of Highway, too, then this engine would be a good choice for you.

1.0 L Turbo GDI Petrol Engine -

This engine is specifically made for the X-Line variant of the 2024 Kia Sonet. As said, it is a Turbo Petrol, 4-cylinder Engine, which produces a whopping 120 hp and 170 Nm of Torque. It is equipped with two Transmission options - 6 iMT and 7 DCT. This engine is very peppy in its nature, as it has a turbo attached. If you are looking for a spirited and smooth petrol engine in this segment, we suggest this could be one of the best.

1.5 L Naturally Aspirated Diesel Engine -

This engine is a mile-muncher, as it is a Diesel one. It is a 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated Diesel engine that produces 115 hp and 250 Nm of Torque. This engine comes equipped with a total of three Transmissions - 6 iMT, 6 AT, and 6 MT. As said, if you are a mile-muncher, and are going to use your Sonet only for long highway drives, this engine could be the one any day.

Expected Launch Date of the 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift

The expected Launch date of the 2024 Kia Sonet facelift is unknown, as the brand has not yet disclosed it. Still, our expectations point towards a probable launch date somewhere in January 2024. 

By the way, bookings of the 2024 Kia Sonet facelift are commencing on 20 December 2023 .

Expected Price of the 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift

We expect the pricing of the 2024 Kia Sonet facelift to increase compared to its pre-facelift model. It might go up to a lakh of price increase. Our presumptions state that the 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift might start from ₹8.5 lacs and jump up to ₹15.5 lacs.
