The 2024 Ford Endeavour has already been spied on in India last week. After that, we also spied on the 2024 Ford Ranger in India. Then Ford started hiring people for their India operations secretly. Basically, this tells us that the Ford comeback is surely happening. Well, recently, in Nighoje, Pune, one of our Aristocrat / Carversal Pro spied the base model of the 2024 Ford Ranger in a Mahindra Manufacturing plant. So, is Ford launching the base model of the 2024 Ford Ranger in India, let us study this, and also find out about the 2024 Ford Ranger India Launch date. 

2024 Ford Ranger XL Base variant spied in India

The 2024 Ford Ranger variant which we see in this image, is the XL variant. It is also the base variant amongst all the 2024 Ford Ranger variants. This variant gets the most basic features throughout the whole line-up of the 2024 Ranger. 

On the front, it gets two Halogen bulbs with reflectors, and Indicators have been placed beside them. The grille design is the same as on the top models but, with basic black plastic use. The housing for the foglamps has been added without the foglamps, the same goes for the ADAS sensor. 

On the side, we have basic steel rims in 255 / 70 / R17 size. The wheel claddings are minimal, and so are the wheel arches. The Bi-turbo badge can be seen on the side, as it gets a Bi-turbo Diesel engine. We can see the passenger seating is till the C-pillar, as it is a Pickup truck, and the luggage bed starts from there. 

At the rear, we have a simple boxy look, with ‘Ranger’ embedded into the body panel. The Tail lamps also get the halogen setup, with a cubical design. The spare wheel can be seen underneath the luggage bed. 

Speaking of the luggage bed, it is extremely wide and spacious, further being practical. It can carry a payload of over 1 ton with no issue. 

On the Inside, we have an identical for the Ranger XL’s dashboard. There is just one difference, which is that, instead of leather there is all plastic used. There are only two places where the leather has been used, the first - Driver’s handrest on the door, and the second - Armrest in the middle. The seats are also made up of plastic. 

It gets a 10’ Infotainment screen system, with the new Ford UI in use. Still, the features on this screen are less compared to the top models. But, you can still control the AC, Android Auto, Apple Carplay, etc. We can also see some quick-function buttons beneath the Infotainment screen. 

After that starts the center console, where we get a USB-C charging port, then we have some drive mode selecting buttons and a rotary dial, too. The Drive selector stick can also be seen. The 2024 Ford Ranger XL does not get an Electronic Parking Brake. 

The Driver’s Instrument Cluster is a 7’ color TFT unit, which is also filled with useful informative features. It gets quite a few display faces depending on the drive modes. It also shows the 4x4 information and usual vehicle & Trip data. The steering wheel is also the same, as it has quite a few buttons for operating the Infotainment screen, like the Media, etc. 

2024 Ford Ranger XL Base model Powertrain

The 2024 Ford Ranger XL base model gets a total of two engines - 

A 2.0 L Bi-turbo Diesel Engine that produces 206 hp and 500 Nm of Torque. It only gets a 10-speed Automatic transmission. It also gets 4x4, which is mated with different drive modes of the pickup truck. 

A 2.0 L Turbo Diesel Engine that produces 168 hp and 405 Nm of Torque. It is also mated with a 10-speed Automatic transmission. It also comes with 4x4 functions.

2024 Ford Ranger India Launch and Pricing

The 2024 Ford Ranger could be seen running on Indian roads by the end of this year. So, we expect it to launch in November 2024. 

The price of the Ford Ranger will be kept competitive, as its main key rival is the Toyota Hilux. Hence, an expected price tag of ₹35 lacs could be given to the 2024 Ford Ranger. 

Why was the 2024 Ford Ranger XL spied in a Mahindra facility?

Well, the reasons behind the spotting of a 2024 Ford Ranger’s base model XL in a Mahindra plant could be plenty. Like, one of them could be - 

• Mahindra has been testing its new upcoming Pickup trucks lately, so, in order to benchmark those pickup trucks Mahindra has imported the 2024 Ford Ranger. 
• Or, maybe Ford is again trying to collaborate with Mahindra to launch its cars in India. Well, the chances for this one are very low though. 
• Lastly, it is true that the lifestyle pickup truck craze in India does not exist. But, these pickup trucks are highly popular in the commercial markets. So, maybe Ford is planning to launch the 2024 Ford Ranger XL Base model for the Commercial market of India against the Isuzu D-Max.
