MG Hector is a global car, what do mean by this is that MG Hector is being sold in many countries under different brands and names. Few famous brands who sell MG Hector globally under their own name -
So, one of the MG Hector’s variants from the Chinese brand Wuling named Almaz has been uncovered in GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show 2023. The Wuling Almaz has got some major design changes which also hints to the 2024 MG Hector’s facelift in India.
Well, usually this has been the process for MG to bring the Hector in India. First, the updated Hector will be showcased in one of the particular International Auto shows and a few months later, that particular updated model will be launched in India under MG’s name. Therefore, chances are decently high for the MG Hector to get this avatar as its facelift in the year 2024.
The current 2023 MG Hector was first revealed in the Indian Auto Expo 2023, which took place in Delhi. This unveil disclosed the fact that this update will bring in major design changes both in the Interior and the Exterior.
Starting with the exterior changes of the current 2023 MG Hector,
The Front grille now also runs throughout the whole front fascia till the lower bumper, which ultimately helps to give the car a bold stance from the front. It has been completely redesigned with an addition of more dense chrome elements. A bulky MG logo has been attached in the middle of the grille.
The Headlamp set up has been overall kept the same with some minor changes. The LED DRLs still get connected to the front grille look. The headlamp unit has been upsized to match the stance and the design language of the grille with the same shape it had in its pre-facelift model. The placement of LED projectors inside the headlamp unit have also been changed.
The Side of the car has been kept unchanged excluding the Alloy wheel design. The alloy design now contains chromed spokes to add more of an SUV quotient to the car.
The Rear has been given 2 updates - One with a new tail lamp and other one with a revised Diffuser. The tail lamp got a connected design element to make the 2023 Hector walk with the current trend. The Diffuser has been redesigned with a simple look and has been given an inclusion of 2 fake exhausts.
The Interior of the car brings a huge smile on the face, as it gets a lot of modern design and technological upgrades. A new 14 inch Infotainment system has been included in the dashboard which is also connected to the centre console. The center console gets a silver finished metal addition which enhances the overall luxury and modern look of the car. The Panoramic sunroof has also been carried forward from the pre-facelift model.
The engine options of the MG Hector are limited to just two engines.
First one is a 1.5 L Turbo Petrol engine → 140 PS & 250 Nm of torque, It is mated with both a Manual and a CVT gearbox.
The second one is a 2.0 L Turbo Diesel engine → 166 PS & 350 Nm of torque, It is mated with both a Manual and a CVT gearbox.( This 2.0 L Diesel engine is a Stellantis owned Fiat-sourced engine, it is being used in many SUVs from the same segment in India like Tata Harrier & Safari and Jeep Compass and Meridian )
The unveiled Wuling Almaz aka 2024 MG Hector facelift has received 2 major upgrades - the Front fascia and new Alloy wheel design.
The Front fascia of the car has been redesigned completely with a new yet trending design trait. The DRLs and the grille which is connected in the 2023 Hector, now it has been split in two units for the 2024 MG Hector facelift. The upper unit consists of a bar with two LED DRLs at both the ends. The MG logo will be attached at the centre of the bar. The headlamp unit and the grille now have been merged in one single rectangular unit. Where the grille now gets angular glossy black inserts and the headlamp unit has also been changed to suit the new design. Overall, the front fascia of the car somewhat resembles the newly launched Hyundai Exter’s front end.
The second change is the Alloy wheels, they have been redesigned and chosen correctly to suit the stance of the car. They happen to be a diamond cut unit. The tyre size has been kept the same - 215 / 55 / R18.
Excluding these two additions, the rest of the car is the same and has been presented with no such design change.
Concluding with, the 2024 MG Hector facelift might get these minor cosmetic upgrades, chances are high though. The interior will be kept the same as of the 2023 Hector. Engine options will also remain unchanged.
Precise India launch details have not been released yet by MG. But we assume the 2024 MG Hector facelift will be on sale in India till late 2024.
