About ten years ago, when the craze for Midsize SUVs - Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Grand Vitara, etc - was not as much as today it is, that time, Renault was way ahead of everybody. What? You don’t remember? Well, we are talking about the Renault Duster. The Duster was actually the car that kickstarted the trend or the love for Midsize SUVs in India. Indeed, there were others, but they weren’t as preferred as the Duster was. Unfortunately, the love for the Duster gradually declined once people discovered the excellence of Hyundai Creta, and further, in 2022, it was sadly discontinued. Still, we are here to bring you some exciting news, as there are very heavy speculations about Renault unveiling the 2024 Duster on November 29, 2023, internationally. So, let us have a discussion on what the mighty Duster could get us this time, as the 2024 Renault Duster to Launch soon with new 4x4 Tech.
Well, as we said, the 2024 Renault Duster will be unveiled on November 29, 2023; therefore, no design details have been unwrapped by the brand. But, we do have our hands on the concept version and have also examined a few spy shots, which we will be using as references and will be discussing the probable design of the 2024 Renault Duster.
We can say by looking at the spy shots that the Renault Duster will be taking heavy inspiration from its conceptual avatar. This surely is a good sign, as the concept of the Duster itself looks very promising.
Speaking more about the design details, the front of the 2024 Duster will get a complete makeover compared to the previous generation. It will hold a new grille design, which will be a slim unit, comparatively. The grille will pack ‘H’ like inserts in it, with the Renault logo sitting in between.
If we go down, then we will notice that the design below is very singular, with one big elevated bumper covering up almost all of the half-front. Between this huge bumper, we can also see a mesh-like insert, and this addition would probably be for the primary Air dams of the vehicle.
Just beside this huge bumper, on both sides, we can also see an air curtain included for better aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle. The Duster is already a pretty heavy-looking SUV, and this inclusion will surely help the performance boost in quite some percentiles.
Speaking of the Headlamp unit. The lights on the front of the new 2024 Renault Duster have been placed in a very conventional spot. What we mean is that nowadays, we are seeing split Headlamp trends all over the Automobile Industry, but the Duster claims to have the traditional placement for its headlamps. We can see that the Duster will get two LED reflectors sitting beneath the simple LED strip, which, by the way, is the DRL of the vehicle.
The side of the 2024 Renault Duster will almost be identical to what it was in its previous generation, in spite of the fact that it will be slightly extended from the back, further inviting some additional design changes.
Talking of the wheels, the ones in the spied model are quite big and seem to be of 18-inches, but the India-bound 2024 Renault Duster will most probably get a 17-inch Alloy wheel. Still, note this one thing: these are presumptions; we might even see an 18-inch wheel fitted to the India-bound 2024 Renault Duster, though if this happens, it will be a welcome change. More about the Alloys, the design for the wheels is quite SUV-ish, as they make space for five spokes, which further split in two. We have already seen quite a lot of such wheel designs in various SUVs, so this indeed looks rough and makes the 2024 Duster look more raw.
The Wheel arches, if we put some light on it, are different, too. On the previous generation's Duster, the wheel arches of both front and rear wheels were a lot traditional and circular, but the ones in the new 2024 Duster are very angular and straight. They look very similar to the ones shown in the Duster’s concept model. Basically, they tend to commence from the Headlamps and the Tail lamps and cover the whole upper area of both wheels.
Moving to the north, the window area is also identical to that of the previous generation’s Duster. Still, there is one change in the previous generation’s Duster: the quarter glass at the back was quite a small one, but in this new 2024 Duster, the quarter glass is quite big, comparatively. Well, an increase in its size isn’t done just for fun; it has a purpose. The purpose is that the new 2024 Duster will be available in two seating formats: 5-seat configuration and 7-seat configuration . So, in order to make the seven-seater Duster as comfortable as they could, a bigger quarter glass comes into play.
The 2024 Renault Duster will get a redesigned rear profile, as well. As far as we could examine the spy shots, we assume that the rear profile is going to be simple yet very suited to the Duster’s purpose. No such curvy lines or any extraordinary design inputs can be seen in the spy shots, so we could claim that it will have more of a boxy design language for its rear. Still, even though it will have a boxy design for its rear, the Duster is very different from the other SUVs having boxy design. Well, we are talking about the overall shape of the rear. The Duster has always had this hatchback-like rear, which seems to be fitted onto a high-raised SUV. By the way, this looks absolutely sick; as no other SUV has this, the Duster makes itself able to have its own individuality.
In detail about the rear profile, as shown in the concept, the wheel claddings run throughout the perimeter of the SUV, so it will be in the production-ready version, as well. We can see a simple, straight line running below the Tailgate, which confirms that the wheel claddings will be thick and make the Duster look more rugged.
The tailgate, too, is very similar to the one shown in the concept. Where half of it stands upright till the rearview window, and then the rearview window goes slanting, joining the roofline of the vehicle. We can also spot the addition of a very stylish spoiler placed over the rearview window. Overall, this particular design makes the SUV look more coupe-ish, which further enhances the attractive factor of the SUV.
Coming on to the Tail lights. They are very similar to the one in the concept, as they, too, have a ‘C’ shape to them. Well, if we also dig more, then we will also get to know that a similar design for the Tail lamps is used in the India-made Renault Kiger, as well. So, it seems that Renault is trying to create a design heritage throughout its SUV lineup.
Concluding the design factor of the 2024 Renault Duster, if we look closely at every aspect of each side of the spied Duster, we might notice that the entire design of the 2024 Renault Duster has been kept very influential from its concept. Which, undoubtedly, is good, as said earlier. As the concept looks dashingly robust already, it is nice that Renault has carried forward the same language over the production-ready version, as well.
The 2024 Renault Duster will be made available with quite a few engine options. Internationally, the Duster is sold with a choice of three engine options -
But, the India-bund 2024 Renault Duster will possibly be made available with two choices of engines - 1.0 L Turbo Petrol engine - 120 hp; 1.3 L Turbo Petrol engine - 170 hp.
The expected launch of the 2024 Renault Duster is suspected to be happening in the third quarter of the year 2024, which means between June 2024 - September 2024.
We also assume that Renault might unveil the 2024 Renault Duster at the 2024 Auto Expo of India .
