There was a time when Renault gained tremendous respect because of its Duster, which they had launched. It was pretty fair, as the Duster was a product that deserved a lot of standing ovations. Well, if you were getting an option of AWD (All Wheel Drive) at a price range between ₹10 lakhs to ₹15 lakhs, then who would reject it? Thus, this was what made Duster one of Renault's most popular models in India. When we analyzed the Duster, it seemed capable enough to give a head-on to cars like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, etc., but unfortunately, Renault, being Renault, was not able to keep the Duster needfully updated. Due to this, it had to part ways with the Indian Automobile Industry back in 2022. So, does this mean we will see no Renault Duster for India from now on? It is pretty late to answer this, as Dacia, Renault’s acquired brand in 1999, has unveiled its new 2024 version of the Duster. Hence, with this brief introduction to today’s topic, let us get into the real matter: the 2025 Renault Duster Global Debut, gets a Hybrid Engine.
The Duster was first brought into existence in 2010 when it was initially launched under the brand name Dacia. Thereafter, it was sold in various other countries till 2012, when it was launched for the first time in India.
Since its launch, a lot of people acknowledged the product, as it was Capable, Reliable, and Rugged-looking, as well. It gripped its success in a decently paced timeline, but when it was liked and sold in big numbers, it was respected a lot, too. It offered features that people would have only imagined having in that particular car segment, the C-1 segment.
But, the market was also evolving gradually, which made them realize the ‘value’ quotient in a vehicle is very important nowadays. This resulted in the demand for various other gimmicky features, which happened to be needful for the users, and as we have already said, Renault failed to update the Duster with this needful equipment, which ultimately led it to discontinue the Duster in 2022. Thus far, there have been no signs of the Duster till now in the Indian Automobile Market.
Renault Duster has always had this sort of unique design styling. Car makers usually go for that Simple, Traditional, and Boxy design approach for their cars, but Renault went for something else, which was undeniably likable. Moreover, actually having the capabilities of an Off-roader, plus being an excellent Family SUV, made the Duster stand apart and tall.
The front design of the Duster might seem identical to some, as it packs almost similar shapes on its face compared to its previous generation.
Speaking of its Grille, it is quite similar as it contains five thick H-shaped Slats. These slats go really well with the rest of the design of the vehicle. They also hold two parallelly flowing lines between them. We can also spot the Dacia logo, where obviously - when the Duster will be sold to India - the Renault logo will be placed.
Sliding down, the lower half of the Grille is totally covered with a massive Air Dam. This Air dam also happens to have contributed its part to the design of the vehicle, as it is surrounded by a thick blocky Skid Plate extension. In between this extension, there lies the Air Dam grille, which will obviously let the air towards the Radiator screwed behind it.
Next up, we can also see the air curtains installed on the sides of the front profile. It seems that they are functional, and they throw out air from the inner part of the Front Wheel Claddings.
Coming on the Headlight unit, they pack a full LED setup. We can see the headlamps placed on top beside the black grille. As said, they pack a full LED setup, wherein we can see reflectors used. The X-shaped LED DRLs happen to create a continuation with the parallel chrome lines we talked about. There is also an inclusion of Fog Lamps on the Skid plate extension, and they also have LED usage for them.
The Side profile of the Duster seems to be heavily revised, with stylish design inputs and some off-road-oriented bits.
Starting with the wheels, they are definitely bigger in the 2025 model. As per the article posted by Dacia, they happen to be of 18-inches. These 18-inch Alloys are very stylish in terms of their look, as they get a premium touch for them. The Diamond-cut treatment given to them also enhances their appearance. Basically, the chrome design, which also acts as a thick border for the alloy wheels, looks a lot better, with the completely blackened-out inner portion of the alloy wheel design.
Coming up, we come across a very healthy wheel cladding used in order to give the typical off-roader look and also be useful at the same time.
Moving more toward the North of the Duster, we can see very simple and clean-flowing body panels. This simplicity is the one that makes the Duster always be on the positive side in terms of its overall appearance. We can also have a look at the Rear Door handle integrated into the C-pillar of the vehicle. This, in fact, takes the simple ‘Design Language’ aspect even further.
Next up, we can see the window area. It happens to be proportionally very low to the rest of the body. But there is nothing wrong with it, as it makes the styling of the vehicle to have more coolness.
The Rear profile of the Duster is very curvy, to be honest. It is just like the previous generation of the Duster, but still, it looks fresh. With the new design additions, they make it look better for sure.
To talk in detail, as we said earlier, it packs very healthy wheel claddings, and the same continues at the rear. In fact, at the back, it becomes more beefy in terms of its looks.
Then, if we move upwards, it has those beautiful Tail lights. They seem to be a continuation of the Headlamps, but they hold their individuality very well. Moreover, Renault not adding itself up to the group of trend-joiners is another good thing. Well, what we meant is that nowadays, we are seeing a lot of car makers making their tail lamp designs very similar in terms of their structure by connecting both the tail lights. But over here, we can see that the tail lights used on the 2025 Renault Duster stand independently, and it makes the design look very good. Just like the Headlamps, it also has the feature of LED lights.
When we move further upwards, we will see a sudden hard curve taken by the design. This might give the SUV a bit of coupe styling in its design, but we can say it does not. But the best part of the rear, after the Tail lamps, has to be those beautiful spoilers. That dual-cut spoiler makes the Duster look more sporty.
The 2025 Renault Duster has also gone through some major changes inside of it. Earlier, in the previous generation of the Duster, it was full of basicness all around its interior, though that did seem to last long, but it was not able to match the competition’s offerings. This time around, as said, Renault has made sure that nothing of this should happen again.
Commencing with the Dashboard, it is very modern-looking now, as it has an angular and sharp design for itself. It seems that the touch and feel of the material used will also be very premium. We can also see in the pictures that the overall shape of the dashboard does not consist of any kind of curved or waved surface; it has a totally squarish and flat surface throughout.
About the equipment in use, the 2025 Renault Duster now gets a new Infotainment Screen, which measures 10.1 inches. It is a sleek and modern-looking unit with a clean and premium-looking interface. We also believe that it would be very smooth and buttery in terms of its usage.
Below this screen, we can see a pair of AC vents placed, which have a similar design element to the Headlamp and the Tail lights. In fact, this particular design element can be in the other two AC vents on the Dashboard.
Sliding more downwards, we can see a line of a few buttons for instant comfort and entertainment-oriented operations. Below that, there seems to be some kind of compartment located between two buttons, the Hazard and the Lock buttons. As far as we think, that particular compartment would be made for CDs, but then there is also a question of CD usage at this particular time period where everything is digital. Well, this particular theory would be known as true or false once it launches in India.
After this comes the utility section, where there are a lot of storage spaces. First comes the rectangular storage area below the quick-use buttons. After that, there seems to be a charging hub where we can spot two USB-C ports and a Cigarette Lighter, mostly of 12V. Below that, again, there is a deep compartment to keep your storage.
Then, it starts the Center console. It packs simply the Gear lever (For the Manual variants) or a stylish Drive selector (For the Automatic variants), plus an Electronic Parking Brake beside it. Behind that, again, there are quite a few storage spaces here, as well, with cupholders placed right before the Armrest. The Armrest also happens to be placed in the right position and at the right height.
Now, moving onto the Driver’s seat, we can see a new Steering wheel, which happens to be a traditional three-spoke one. But, it is definitely a good-looking one, as it has been given an attractive shape. It also consists of a lot of buttons, obviously to control the Infotainment Screen and the 7-inch Driver’s Display. This Driver’s Display happens to have a very clear and crisp interface. We assume that it would be very nice to look at it in person.
To talk about its seating configurations, earlier in India, the previous generation Duster used to have a fixed 5-seat configuration for all of its variants. But this time, it seems that Renault might give us a 7-seat configuration, as well, as this generation of the Duster supports this choice firmly.
This is very new and innovative for the Duster. We should surely applaud Dacia and Renault for this beautiful addition. Basically, this YouClip Accessory Package is a new mechanism that looks like a small square and is attached at various places in the interiors of the Duster, like the Inner part of the tailgate, On the Dashboard beside the Infotainment screen, Below the Rear AC vents, and On the right side of the Center Console. A clear example can be seen in the above picture, where there is a Phone holder attached to the Infotainment Screen.
This thing is definitely something very impressive, and the fact that it is customizable means - it can not only be used for Phone Holders but also for Cup Holders, Luggage Hooks, Tablet Holders, Small Light, etc.
Overall, the interiors of the 2025 Renault Duster are very keen on the modern turn that every other car is taking. Still, it misses on one of the very liked features by everyone, which is evidently a Sunroof. Anyway, the rest of the interiors seem to have been very well laid out with good touch materials and quality of components used.
Now, the new 2025 Renault Duster gets quite a few Power Train options, with a series of variations, obviously. Still, it is sure that the Indian version of the Duster will not be getting all of them; it will have selective ones. But, let us first talk about all the powertrain options, as they are very interesting, and then we will move on to the question of which one of them we will get.
1.0 L, 3 Cylinder - LPG Engine -
This particular engine is one of the most popular ones outside of India, as it has some very evident yet convincing reasons for it. There is only a Manual Drive Train available with this particular engine option. This LPG-sourced engine is specifically engineered to focus on great Fuel efficiency for those who want to ignore Hybrids.
This engine burns its Gas and Fuel from two 50 liters tanks given to either of them.
1.2 L, 3 Cylinder - MHEV Engine -
This particular unit is a Mild Hybrid unit, where we can have a battery pack of 800 Watts or 0.8 kWh . This engine manages to produce a total of 130 hp , which is a combined figure of the battery available and the engine. There is only a 6-speed Manual Drive Train available in this one. This battery pack focuses on those who have a budget but are looking for a Hybrid system in order to have a better Fuel economy number. The Fuel Tank capacity of this particular engine is the same at 50 liters.
1.6 L, 4 Cylinder - HEV Engine -
This engine option makes the 2025 Duster a complete Hybrid vehicle by packing a 1.2 kWh Battery pack. This engine cumulatively produces 140 hp. This particular engine is only available in the Automatic Drive Train. As this is a full hybrid unit, it is definite that it would generate the most fuel-efficient number among the other two engines.
It has a Fuel Tank capacity of 50 liters, like others.
Now, which one of these will most likely make it to the Indian Roads?
Well, unfortunately, we have to accept that we could expect the 1.6 L, 4 Cylinder - HEV Engine to make its path to India, as obviously it will be a lot costlier and might make nonsense in terms of its pricing. Yeah, we know it is sad. But, if we dig into this a bit, we can actually get this particular for ourselves, as well; here’s how? Basically, it is sure that there is a lot of time to go for the third generation of the Duster to launch in India, so if in case, Renault manages to manufacture the 2025 Duster in India, it will be concrete that we will have this Hybrid engine as an option.
Therefore, it is obvious that the first two engines are the ones that might make it to the Indian shores, as they might create a better package. With this, we can also say that the 2025 Duster might be the first Renault car to have an LPG option.
As said, there is quite a lot of time for us to have our hands on the 2025 Renault Duster, so we can expect a period of a year or two. To be slightly precise, we believe Renault might introduce us to the 2025 Duster in the Second Half of 2025.
