5 New Mahindra SUVs launching in coming Months : Bolero to XUV.E9

Mahindra has been on a spree of creating and coming out with innovative and bolder SUVs while also gaining recognition worldwide for its well-established models too. Here are some of the upcoming SUVs that are going to be offered by Mahindra’s lineup in the future.


The New XUV-500

Mahindra has recently announced a comeback of the XUV500, which was previously taken over by XUV700 because of its upgrades and features. The new XUV500 has come back with substantial changes and features smaller dimensions than its predecessor. XUV500 is expected to be around 4.3 meters long and will compete directly with mid-size SUVs like Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Mg Astor etc.

The XUV500 will be based upon the same platform used by the XUV300 and the XUV400 EV. in terms of powertrain the SUV is expected to offer a 1.5L turbo petrol and diesel engine options. It is expected that Mahindra will also introduce an electrified version of the SUV in the future.


Bolero Neo Plus

Mahindra is set to expand the Bolero line up soon with the Bolero Neo Plus, a longer version of the body on frame, four meter Bolero Neo SUV. It will feature more equipment and seating capacity than the Bolero Neo and will offer some tweaks in its exterior and interior features.

The Bolero Neo Plus is available in 7-9 seats configuration, with an ambulance variant featuring a 4-seat layout and a patient bed too. The SUV will be 4400 mm long and 1795 mm wide with a wheelbase of 2680 mm. The exterior design cues stay the same as the Bolero Neo but with additional features like body coloured pillars, new rear bumper and tail-mounted spare wheel. The SUV will be powered by a 2.2L mHawk Diesel engine which will produce around 130 hp and 300 Nm of torque mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox.


Next-Gen Bolero

According to our sources, Mahindra is planning to launch the next-gen Bolero in the Indian market in 2024. The SUV is known for its utility and use in rural areas. It is expected to be on a ladder-on-frame chassis which is also shared among the Thar and Scorpio-N as well. The Model will likely retain its original look with a few changes in its design cues and features.

The cabin of the SUV is expected to receive better quality trim and finish along with introduction of technical features like touchscreen infotainment system, multifunctional steering wheel, height adjustable driver’s seat and automatic AC too. 

The Next-Gen Bolero is expected to be powered by the 2.2L mHawk diesel engine and a 2.0L turbo-petrol engine with manual and automatic gearboxes.


XUV E8

Mahindra is releasing an electric counterpart of the flagship XUV700, known as the XUV.e8 or XUV E8. It is based upon the INGLO platform which is similar to the platform used in the XUV700 and will likely be released in December of 2024.

In terms of design the E8 has been tweaked to look more futuristic and EV oriented than the XUV700 with full-width LED light bars ,closed off front grille, sharply contoured bonnet and bumper mounted headlamps.

In terms of dimension, The E8 is 45 mm longer, 10mm wider and 5mm taller than the XUV700 along with its wheelbase being 7mm longer as well.

Powertrain-wise Mahindra has confirmed that it will come along with the all-wheel drive system and the battery pack will range up to 80kWh with power outputs ranging between 230hp to 350hp.


XUV E9

The E9 has a coupe-oriented SUV design which is based upon the XUV Aero concept which was showcased in the AutoExpo 2018 and draws inspirations from its cousin the XUV E8 in terms of headlight design, bumper-mounted headlamps and closed off front grille. But apart from that what really sets it apart is its rear and flat tail section which gives off a sporty look.

In terms of dimensions, the E9 will be 4790mm in length, 1905mm in width and 1690mm in height but unlike the smaller wheelbase of the E8, it will have a wheelbase of 2775mm and will only be available in 5-seat configuration.

In terms of powertrain it will have the same all wheel drive system as the XUV E8 and will share the same 80kWh battery pack as the E8.
