June 23rd, 2023

The first-ever YV8 electric SUV from Maruti has been spotted out in the open for testing. The eVX, which is rumored to be Maruti Suzuki's response to the incoming Hyundai Creta EV, was unveiled as a concept during the last Auto Expo, giving fans a sneak peek at the company's first all-electric SUV.

Nearly two years before it officially hits the market, Maruti Suzuki's new EV has been spotted on the streets. These spy photos were obtained in Krakow, Poland, even though the SUV will be manufactured in India and most likely be sold here before anywhere else. Together with Toyota, this new EV is being created; Toyota will also produce its own version. It's interesting to note that Toyota has a factory in Poland where cars are made.

The eVX EV SUV will measure around 4.3 meters in length and feature a 2,700mm wheelbase in production-spec models. It has a wide closed-off grille, an upright snout, and massive headlights on either side of its front end, but they appear transitory. The rear door's handle appears to be on the C-pillar.

Overall, the eVX has a broad stance and powerful shoulder lines, especially behind the back doors where they seamlessly blend with the tailboard. It will probably also have an attached LED tail light treatment. It features a finely tapered roofline that slants downward towards the back, giving it a coupe-SUV appearance.

Interior and Safety

Additionally, the inside has been seen. The dashboard has dual screens that resemble the Mahindra XUV700 and appears to be fairly tall. Vertical AC vents, a floating center console with a rotary dial that frees up extra storage, and a horizontal stack of physical buttons and knobs in the exact middle complete the interior design. Additionally, the steering wheel features a distinctive two-spoke shape.

The power window switches, the controls for the power seats, and a few other components appear to have been taken from the Toyota parts bin rather than the Maruti parts bin, especially inside this SUV. Additionally revealed are the SUV's frameless rearview mirror, and 360-degree camera, and comes with ADAS ( Advanced Driver Assistance Systems ) as well.

Powertrain And Performance

This brand-new SUV is built on a brand-new EV platform that will give birth to a variety of Toyota-Maruti EVs. Gujarat will serve as the manufacturing location for the production-spec Maruti YV8 SUV and its Toyota equivalent, which will be sold both domestically and abroad.

Maruti stated that the concept's powertrain will have a 60kWh battery and a 550km range. The production model of this SUV is anticipated to feature a battery with a similar capacity and a real-world range of about 500 km, as we've previously reported. There will also be a more affordable model with a battery that has a real-world range of about 400 km and a lesser capacity of about 48 kWh.
