Mahindra showcased its outstanding and futuristic EV plans back in 2022, where it showcased some of its upcoming BEVs (Born EVs). It also introduced a new sub-brand, particularly an EV brand, named BE - Born Electric. Including BE’s EVs, Mahindra showcased a total of 5 EVs - XUV e8 and XUV e9 under Mahindra’s brand name, and BE 05, BE 07, and BE 09 under BE’s brand name. Well, the time has come, as Mahindra has launched a teaser for the XUV e9 and BE 05 but, with different names - XEV 9e for XUV e9 and BE 6e for BE 05.
Mahindra launched this Electric-only sub-brand back in 2022. This sub-brand will share all of its technological components with the upcoming Mahindra EVs - XEV 9e and XUV e8. This BE brand was introduced with three concepts under its name - BE 05, BE 07, and BE 09, out of which, the BE 6e (BE 05) will be unveiled on November 26 in Chennai, India.
Speaking of the BE 6e, it will be based on the INGLO platform showcased by the brand alongside these same SUVs, back in 2022. This platform will be a pure-EV platform developed with respect to all of the typical Mahindra SUV attributes.
The INGLO platform that will be used underneath the BE 6e is capable of packing a battery pack ranging from 60 - 80 kWh. Most probably, the BE 6e will host a 60 - 65 kWh battery pack, as it rivals the likes of Curvv EV and Creta EV (compact Electric SUVs). It will also support fast charging up to 175 kW adding the convenience factor of charging the vehicle from 0 - 80% in 30 minutes.
Moreover, this platform will only be available in either a Rear Wheel Drive option or an All Wheel Drive option. The power figures claimed by Mahindra at the time of concept unveiling - it will be capable of producing 228 - 282 hp in RWD and 335 - 389 hp in AWD mode. Also, it can accelerate from 0 - 100 km/hr within 6 seconds, claimed by Mahindra. It would be capable of doing 400 - 450 km on a full charge.
The BE 6e will be 4370 mm long, 1900 mm wide, and 1635 mm tall with a 2775 mm wheelbase.
To speak of its design, the BE 6e will be revolutionary in terms of the design language of Mahindra SUVs. It will have sharp edges with plenty of cuts and creases all over the body. Overall, the entire design language of the BE 6e will have bold statements made. The Headlamp will be placed on the two sides of the front profile with a C-shaped LED DRL covering them from the outer side.
The Interior was once revealed by Mahindra’s Executive Director - Mr Rajesh Jejurikar, where we got to see a Driver-centric design given to the dashboard. Basically, most of the technology in the cabin, specifically around the dashboard area was focused more towards the Driver for his/her convenience. We also noticed a single screen on the dashboard - Instrument Cluster, which is less likely to be the same on the production model, we will be offered the Infotainment screen, too.
Adding more to it, some cool technological features, like Electric seats, a Panoramic sunroof, Automatic Climate Control, ADAS Level 2 with 5 Radar+1 Camera, a Two spoke steering wheel with logo illumination, 18-inch wheels, a Skyroof, etc will be present in the production model.
The XEV 9e is sort of based on the XUV 7OO in terms of its size but, it is a completely different SUV. It will also be sharing the same components, like the platform, technology, etc with other upcoming Mahindra EVs and of course, BE 6e, as well. Though XEV 9e will be packing even more technology compared to the BE 6e.
It will be based on the same INGLO platform and will be capable of hosting a 60 - 80 kWh battery pack. Our presumptions say that XEV 9e will host the biggest battery pack, which will be 80 kWh capacity. This battery pack will also be available in either of the two iterations - RWD with a single motor or AWD with a Dual motor setup.
It will be capable of producing the most amount of power throughout the Mahindra and BE EVs range - nearly 300 - 400 hp. With such a powerful setup, it will be capable of driving up to 500 - 550 km easily on a full charge. The XEV 9e could also have fast charging of 175 kW as standard considering a big battery pack, the mentioned fast charging setup can charge the SUV from 0 - 80% within 30 minutes.
The design of the XEV 9e will be very similar to the XUV 7OO structurally. Basically, the XEV 9e will be a proper full-size Coupe SUV of XUV 7OO size. It will offer optimum road presence as well as space inside the cabin. Secondly, the XEV 9e has been spied several times with a first-in-segment three-screen feature on the dashboard, which will also make the SUV, the first Indian to have this feature.
Up front, it will have a moustache-like LED DRL design with triangle-like headlamp housing. It will use cubical-shaped LED beams and the indicators will be integrated into the DRLs. On the side, it will have thick wheel claddings to give a rugged feel to the SUV. At the rear, it will have a long tailgate with spoilers and a shark fin antenna. The tail lamps will also have a similar design like the LED DRLs.
Moreover, it will run on big 19 - 20 inch alloy wheels with aero inserts for better drag efficiency. Features, like ADAS Level 2, Two-zone Automatic Climate control, Electric seats, Panoramic sunroof, Co-Driver Entertainment screen, Ventilated seats, Advanced Remote functions, etc are highly expected to be in the XEV 9e.
The XEV 9e will be 4790 mm long, 1905 mm wide, and 1690 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2775 mm.
