Tata Altroz Racer Edition launched to kill Hyundai i20 N-line

June 7th, 2024

Tata Altroz Racer Edition launch has taken place. It will compete with the Hyundai i20 N-line

Tata Motors has been active since the brand has refreshed itself with its new Nexon. The Nexon sort of brought a series of upgrades in its SUV line-up but, through all this, its Tata hatchbacks were being quite ignored. Well, now, it seems, Tata Motors is ready with one of its hatchbacks, too. We are speaking of the Tata Altroz Racer Edition. So, without wasting any time, let us get into the details of the Fastest Indian Hatchback, and What is the price of Tata Altroz Racer Edition.

About Tata Altroz Racer Edition

The Altroz Racer edition is based on the standard Altroz, which tells us that it uses the same ALFA architecture developed by Tata Motors. This platform has already been well-regarded by the Altroz customers. This platform has also performed absolutely amazing in the GNCAP crash test, scoring a full 5 stars.

The Altroz Racer edition is supposed to go after the Sports hatchback in its segment, Hyundai i20 N-line. The N-line is rich in features, and also gets a powerful Turbo Petrol Engine but, the increased price does not really support the car's success, as it sells the least in the segment.

The Altroz Racer Edition packs some cosmetic and mechanical upgrades to prove itself distinctive from the standard Altroz. It also gets a few feature upgrades, which we will also see in the upcoming 2025 Tata Altroz.

Design-wise, there is no big change, as said. The Altroz Racer edition holds a few cosmetic changes, like three new colors -

Outdoor Orange Dual Tone

Tata Altroz Racer Edition - Outdoor Orange Dual Tone Color

Avenue White Dual Tone

Tata Altroz Racer Edition - Avenue White Dual Tone Color

Pure Grey Dual Tone

Tata Aktroz Racer Edition - Pure Grey Dual Tone Color

All these three colors contain two white stripes running from the hood to the end of the roof. These changes surely give the Altroz Racer Edition its own individuality and a sporty look. The tires on the Altroz Racer Edition see no changes, as they have the same profile of 165 / 80 / R16, and the Alloy wheel design, too, happens to be the same on the Altroz Racer but, it gets black treatment on itself. Including this, the Altroz Racer also gets Racer badges stuck below the A-pillar.

On the inside, the Tata Altroz Racer Edition gets new seat covers with colored edges based on the color you choose. The same color can also be seen on the Air vent covers and Steering wheel stitching. We also get Racer written on all Four Headrests.

The Altroz Racer does not really put behind the standard Altroz in terms of its design but, it does in terms of its feature list. The Altroz gets some serious technological feature inclusions over the standard Tata Altroz.

It starts with a new 10’ Infotainment screen, which has been taken from the mid variants of the Tata Nexon. This screen hosts the 360* Camera System, Air Purifier, Four JBL Speakers and Tweeters with sound modes, iRA Connected Car Tech, and Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

It also gets a 7’ Instrument Cluster, which was first seen in the pre-facelift Tata Harrier. This Instrument Cluster packs a bunch of features, like a Power and Torque meter, Distance to Empty, Instantaneous Fuel economy, etc. This Instrument Cluster is surrounded by two analog dials, one for the RPM meter, and the other Fuel meter. This screen, as well as the Infotainment screen, can be controlled by the Steering-mounted controls for quick functions.

The Altroz also gets Leatherette seats, Auto Headlamps & Rain-sensing Wipers, Cruise Control, a Front sliding Armrest, a Wireless charger, Rear AC vents, Six Airbags in all variants, a segment-first Ventilated Front seats feature, Xpress cool, an Electric Sunroof with Voice Assist, etc.

Tata Altroz Racer Edition Engine Specs

The Altroz Racer Edition shares the 1.2 L Turbo Petrol engine with the Nexon. This engine produces 120 PS and 170 Nm Torque. This engine has only been mated to a 6-speed Manual Gearbox, it does not get any Automatic or DCT options, unlike the regular Altroz.

In terms of Cubic Capacity, the Altroz Racer Edition happens to have a bigger hand with its 1.2 L Turbo engine, as the i20 N-line gets a 1.0 L Turbo Petrol. Still, they nearly produce the same amount of power, with the i20 N-line producing 2 Nm Torque more than the Altroz Racer Edition.
