Tata Curvv EV Launched 585 km Range at 17.49 Lakhs - Battery, Design, Variants, etc

​India’s leading EV manufacturer, Tata Motors’ sub division - TATA.ev, has launched the Curvv EV or Curvv.ev. The Curvv EV happens to be India’s most advanced EV to date. It is a unique Midsize/Compact SUV with a Coupe design language. The Curvv EV and the Curvv ICE were showcased several times before the launch but, today, the Curvv EV has been launched by the brand at ₹17.49 lakh, whereas, the Curvv ICE will be launched later on September 2, 2024.

The Powertrain of the Curvv.ev consists of two Battery Packs, which are Medium Range - 45 kWh and Long Range - 55 kWh. Out of these two battery packs, the 45 kWh is borrowed from the Nexon.ev Long range variant and the 55 kWh battery is a new unit. 


The 45 kWh battery is fitted to a 110 kW motor that powers the front wheels. The motor produces 150 hp and 215 Nm Torque. The claimed range of this battery pack is 502 km, and it can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr within 10 seconds.

The 55 kWh battery pack is fitted to a 123 kW motor powering the front wheels. It produces 165 hp and 215 Nm Torque. The stated driving range for this setup is 585 km. This motor can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr within 9 seconds. 


In both the battery pack setups, the speed has been restricted to 150 km/hour. Both the battery packs and motors have been rated IP 67. Both the powertrains can be driven within three Driving modes - Eco, Sport, and City. Three levels of Regenerative Barking can be done, and it can be operated through Paddle shifters. 


These batteries can be charged through the charging point located at the nose of the Curvv, it also has an auto-opening lid and can automatically be closed once the SUV starts. The Charging options on the Curvv will be 7.2 kW AC and DC Charging. The Curvv EV also supports V2V and V2L charging like the Nexon EV.

The Curvv EV gets two Battery options - 45 kWh and 55 kWh, and it has been distributed within Five variants - Creative, Accomplished, Accomplished + S, Empowered +, and Empowered + A


The Mid-range Battery pack having a 45 kWh battery will be available in the lower three variants - Creative, Accomplished, and Accomplished + S. 


Whereas, the Long-range battery pack having a 55 kWh Battery will be available in the upper four variants - Accomplished, Accomplished + S, Empowered +, and Empowered + A. 


Safety Features

Punch.ev and Curvv.ev share the same platform with slight differences - So, they will have very similar crash test performances.

The Curvv EV is based on the Acti.ev platform, which debuted in the Punch.ev. This platform was developed by Tata Motors, especially for its future Born Electric Vehicles. The Curvv EV happens to be the second Tata EV to underpin this platform.

This Platform has already scored all 5 stars in both Adult Safety and Child Safety Crash tests conducted by Bharat NCAP. Tata officials state that the Acti.ev platform for the Curvv has undergone a few major changes to make the Curvv EV even stronger than its competitors -

Moreover, it gets 6 Airbags, ABS with ESP, Driver Doze Alert, All-wheel Disc Barkes, Blind Spot View Monitor, and Level 2 ADAS including Autonomous Braking. 


Exterior Design & Interiors

The Curvv EV is the first SUV in its segment of Midsize/Compact Electric SUVs to have a Coupe Design. The Front fascia of the Curvv EV is exactly similar to that of the Nexon EV. But, Tata Motors has added a few small bits to differentiate the Curvv from the Nexon. On the Side, the slopping roofline defines the coolness the SUV carries. Moreover, at the rear, the long-running connected Taillamp sort of completes the whole smooth flow of design in the Curvv EV.

It gets LED DRLs, LED Headlamps and Taillamps, Sequential Turn Indicators, Cameras on four sides for 360 degree Camera system, 18-inch Alloy wheels with Aero covers, Flush Door handles with Illumination for better visibility, Rain Sensing Wipers, and Electric Tailgate with Gesture control. These sare some key features on the exterior of the Curvv EV.

Inside the cabin, the Curvv EV is rich in terms of features. It gets similar Dashboard layout as in the Nexon EV but with a few changes. The Curvv EV also gets a few first-in-segment features that are fitted inside the cabin. 

The Cabin of the Curvv EV gets a 12.3-inch Infotainment Screen with Wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, Arcade.ev with OTT & Games, Multi-Lingual Assistive Features with Alexa, Siri, & Google Assistant, a 10.25-inch Instrument Cluster with Multi-display feature & Map display, Four Spoke Steering wheel from the Harrier & Safari, Automatic Climate Control with Rear AC vents & Ventilated Front Seats, Touch-sensitive panel, 6-way Electric Adjustment for Front row seats, Four Headrest with Center Armrest for both rows, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold Function, Auto-Diming IRVM, Cooled Glove Box, Wireless Charger, Electrically adjustable ORVMs, etc. These are some key features available inside the cabin of the Curvv. 

Moreover, the Curvv also offers a boot space of more than 500 liters and a Frunk with 11 liters of storage space.
