The wait is finally over as the first Indian Coupe SUV - Tata Curvv has been launched by a homegrown brand - Tata Motors. The Curvv was first, unveiled on 7 August, where the Curvv.ev was launched with a lot of exciting and first-in-segment features at just ₹17.49 Lakhs. After that today, the Curvv ICE has been launched at ₹10 Lakhs, which also makes the SUV, the Third Cheapest in the Midsize SUV segment after the Citroen Basalt and MG Astor. The Curvv ICE also gets Tata Motors’ first Turbo GDI Petrol engine, which is named Hyperion. 

Tata Curvv ICE Platform - ATLAS 

Initially, the Curvv was expected to adopt a stretched version of the Nexon’s X1 platform. This X1 platform is more than a decade old platform, and it was first used in the Tata Indica series of hatchbacks. But, Tata Motors sort of surprised everyone with a new arrival in the brand’s platform lineup, named ATLAS - Adaptive Tech-forward Lifestyle Architecture. 

This ATLAS platform is a completely new unit that will underpin the Curvv ICE and future Tata products (most probably the 3rd Generation of the Nexon, too). Tata Motors also promises excellent safety with this new platform. 

Tata Curvv Design 

The Curvv shares the same design language as the Curvv EV. The main highlight of the SUV is its slopping roofline, which gives it a sporty and cool look. The rest of the design is a mixture of the Nexon and Harrier / Safari. 

The Front profile of the SUV packs a similar look to the Nexon. It gets a connected LED DRL, which features sequential Turn Indicators. This DRL has been housed in a Glossy Black panel that also has a Harrier and Safari-like Grille design. The Curvv offers split headlamps like other Tata SUVs. It gets a single primary LED Projector beam with two LED Foglamps with a cornering function. The Lower bumper of the SUV has been given a Glossy Black treatment, Tata Motors has also managed to hide the front Radar for ADAS in this Glossy Black lower bumper with a Camera in the front windshield. 

The Side of the Curvv gets 18-inch sharp Diamond-cut Alloy wheels. These wheels are wrapped under 215 / 55 section of tires with 16 and 17-inch Alloy wheels for lower variants. The wheel cladding on the Curvv ICE is exactly similar to that of the Curvv EV, as it gets Glossy treatment for the claddings, too. The Arches are quite angular with decent bulges. The roofline goes slopping post the B-pillar. 

The Rear end of the Curvv is heavily dominated by the attractive long Tail light with sequential Indicators. The Curvv only gets a few design bits except this on its rear profile. 

Tata Curvv Interiors

The Curvv packs exactly similar interior layout to that of the Nexon with a few equipment changes. It gets a 12.25-inch Infotainment screen with Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an Automatic Climate Control with Express cool feature and an in-built Air Purifier, an Electrically adjustable Driver Seat, a Ventilation function on the Front row of seats, an Auto IRVM, an All-four Power windows with Electronic adjust for ORVMs, Panoramic sunroof with Voice Assisted operation, Touch-sensitive (Phygital) panel for Climate control, a Four spoke Steering wheel with Digitally Illuminated Tata logo, 10.25-inch Instrument Cluster with Navigation display feature, Ambient Lighting, a 360-degree Camera system with a 3D view, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold feature, a 9-speaker Music system, Electric Tailgate with Gesture control, etc. 

The Curvv also gets two-step reclining for the Rear seats. Overall, the Curvv manages to offer a different cabin experience compared to the Nexon. The Curvv also gets 6 Airbags with all 3-pointer Seatbelts and Hill decent function. The Curvv offers a boot space of 500 liters which is the highest when compared to its rivals. 

The Curvv offers Level 2 ADAS. This makes the SUV able to perform a lot of advanced driving features - Adaptive Cruise Control, Stop & Go Traffic feature, Lane Keep Assist & Lane departure warning, Blind Spot monitoring system, Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Door Opening Alert on ORVM, Lane Change Alert, and Rear Collision Warning. 

Tata Curvv Engine Options - Petrol & Diesel

The Curvv offers a total of three engine options - two Petrol and one Diesel. Out of these three engines, two of them have been sourced from other Tata cars, and one has been newly developed. The Curvv also offers a DCA Gearbox option (as the only Automatic option) with its Manual Gearboxes - 

A 1.2 L Revotron Turbo Petrol Engine that produces 120 hp and 170 Nm torque. This engine has been sourced from other Tata cars, like the Nexon and the Altroz. This engine comes mated with a 6-speed Manual Gearbox and a 7-speed DCA Gearbox. This engine will be available in all the variants except the Top variant of the Curvv - Smart, Pure+, Pure+ S, Creative, Creative S, Creative+ S, and Accomplished S.

A 1.5 L Kryojet Diesel Engine that produces 116 hp and 260 Nm torque. This engine has been sourced from the Nexon and is regarded as one of the best Tata engines. This engine will come mated with a 6-speed Manual Gearbox and a 7-speed DCA Gearbox. This engine will be available in all of the Curvv variants - Smart, Pure +, Pure + S, Creative, Creative S, Creative+ S, Accomplished S, and Accomplished+ A. 

A 1.2 L Hyperion Turbo GDI engine that produces 125 hp and 225 Nm torque. This engine is a newly developed unit and also the first for the brand. This engine will come mated with a 6-speed Manual Gearbox and a 7-speed DCA Gearbox. This engine will be positioned more upwards in the variant ladder for a few of the Top variants only - Creative S, Creative+ S, Accomplished S, and Accomplished+ A.
