2018 - Tata Nexon became India's First car to score 5 stars

It was 2018, when everything in the Industry used to work, unlike today. Back then, if a person wanted or needed a car, that person directly used to point to either Maruti Suzuki or Hyundai. The situation was that simple. 

Then, came the Tata Nexon, which became the first ever Indian car to score a complete 5 stars in Global NCAP’s crash tests. This news spread all over the Internet like water. It was the beginning of all Indian Automobile Industry’s consumers to think twice before selecting a car to buy. To check whether it is safe or not. We, consumers, learned a complete lesson on safety and started appreciating a car based on that. 

Back then, the 2018 Tata Nexon, based on the protocols of Global NCAP in 2018, scored a complete 5 stars in Adult Safety tests, acquiring 16.06 out of 17.00 points. It scored 3 stars in Child Safety tests, acquiring 25.00 out of 49.00 points. This also turned out to be the start of Tata Nexon’s success. 

2024 Tata Nexon scores 5 stars in Adult and Child Safety

The 2024 Tata Nexon turned out to be a great successor to previous Nexon’s crash tests, as it did not score similar points to the last one, but overtook it a long way. 

The 2024 Nexon was crash-tested at Global NCAP’s site. It was crashed in a total of three ways - Frontal Offset Barrier, Side Moving Barrier and Side Pole Impact. These tests were conducted at a speed of 65 km per hour. 

In these tests, mostly the post-crash body conditions of the front Two Passengers and the Child in the child seat in the second row were studied. 

In the Frontal Offset Barrier Test - 

The driver’s Head, Thighs and Feet were in absolute Good condition, whereas, the condition of the Tibias and Chest were Adequate. The Co-passenger’s Head, Thighs and Tibias were reported in Good condition, whereas, the Chest was reported as Adequate. The Child’s safety in the back seat resulted to be absolutely Good. 

In the Side Moving Barrier Test -

The Driver’s Head and Abdomen were reported in Good condition, whereas, the Chest was seen in an Adequate condition. 

In the Side Pole Impact Test -

The Driver’s Head and Pelvis were reported to be in Good condition, and the Abdomen was seen in Adequate condition, whereas, the Chest was reported to be in Marginal condition. 

The Structural integrity of the Nexon was also reported to be stable.  

Overall, it scored 32.22 out of 34.00 points in Adult Safety Ratings, and 44.52 out of 49.00 points in Child Safety Ratings.  These ratings have officially made the 2024 Tata Nexon, the Second Safest car in India.
