The Indian Automobile Industry has been seeing a lot of progress lately. With brands becoming more serious in terms of launching good products, we are being served one of the best products to date. In fact, the brands are not only working hard but also being rewarded for the kind of work they have done. The July 2024 Car Brand sales say it all, as a few brands have been rising rapidly, like Mahindra, Toyota, Hyundai, etc.
Starting off with the very usual topper in the table of Monthly Car sales - Maruti Suzuki. There ‘has been’ and still ‘is’ no brand that has come close to what Maruti achieves every single month. Moreover, the recent launches from the brand have made it go up in terms of numbers even more. Maruti Fronx, Brezza, Swift, WagonR, etc play a major role in making this happen every single month. In the month of July 2024, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,37,463 units.
The Second Position used to create tough competition between Hyundai and Tata Motors but, now, Hyundai has clinched it very easily. Hyundai has learned thoroughly over the years what really Indians look for in a car. This helps the brand stay a step ahead of Tata Motors, as it delivers a good package of features, material quality, and reliability. In the month of July 2024, Hyundai sold 49,013 units.
The Third position is acquired by Tata Motors. A year ago, this brand was dominating the SUV market so insanely that at a point, it even surpassed Hyundai and became the second biggest in India. But, recently, the brand has sort of stumbled not because of launching bad products but, because the competition from other brands occurred, and the Curvv launch also restricted buyers from buying Tata SUVs. In the month of July 2024, Tata Motors sold 44,727 units.
The Fourth Position is acquired by Mahindra. For the past two or three years, this brand has just grown. It started with the Thar 3-door - XUV 7OO - Scorpio N - XUV 3XO. These cars stand apart from their respective rivals by having typical Mahindra SUV traits. Moreover, offering some serious value-for-money equations also made Mahindra inch very close to the third biggest - Tata Motors. In the month of July 2024, Mahindra sold 41,623 units.
The Fifth position is taken by Toyota Kirloskar Motors. Toyota had been struggling with Kia Motors for the 5th place but, post the Toyota Taisor launch ( rebadged Maruti Fronx ), the brand has seen some serious jump in sales. The Maruti-Toyota collaboration seems to deliver good results for the Toyota side. Toyota Taisor, Glanza, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and HyCross are the products that have popped out of this collaboration between both brands. In the month of July 2024, Toyota sold 29,533 units.
The Sixth position is acquired by Hyundai’s sibling company - Kia Motors. Kia has been quite low post the 2024 Sletos launch, and ‘low’ does not mean ‘facing loss’ but, they have been low in terms of launching new cars. This year, they updated their entire lineup except, a few cars - Carnival and Carens. But, the rest of the lineup looks fresh. Moreover, the updated Seltos and Sonet offer way more than before and have also undergone a serious design makeover. In the month of July 2024, Kia sold 20,507 units.
The Seventh Position is acquired by Honda. The maker of the most reliable engines in India is late at almost every party in India. A few months ago, the brand launched its much anticipated Midsize SUV - Elevate. But, there was no such buzz, as the competition had already captured the attention of the audience. Plus, as said, Honda was already late for this party, which ended up making the elevate ‘just another SUV in the segment’. In the month of July 2024, Honda sold 4624 units.
The Eighth position is taken by MG. Since JSW acquired MG India, the brand has shown a lot of interest in launching some good products. The upcoming launch from MG is the Windsor CUV - a Crossover Utility Vehicle in the Harrier and XUV 7OO segment. MG India now, has also claimed to be the next Maruti of India for which the brand will have to launch some seriously good products. In the month of July 2024, MG sold 4572 units.
The Ninth spot is taken by the German brand - Volkswagen. This brand has been dangling at this particular sales number for a long time now. Despite launching various editions of its SUV and Sedan siblings - Taigun and Virtus, the brand has seen below-average interest from buyers. In fact, the only reason buyers buy Volkswagen, or Skoda for that matter, is because they are from a German brand. In the month of July 2024, Volkswagen has sold 3407 units.
The Tenth position in this table is for Renault. This brand is a pure example of people who just like to get up on a stage but, don’t know what to do after that. Renault launched the Kiger almost three years ago, and since then, nothing new has come out from the brand. But, recently, the Electric version of the popular Kwid was spied on in India, so, maybe, we could see this coming in as a new launch soon. In the month of July 2024, Renault sold 2832 units.
There were more brands except the mentioned ones - Skoda, Nissan, Jeep, and Citroen. But, due to their poor performance in sales, they did not makeup to the Top 10 list.
Skoda sold 2103 units
Nissan sold 2011 units
Citroen sold 335 units
Jeep sold 276 units
