Rolls Royce, a brand which has been carrying its heritage since 1904, surely knows how to stand out in public. Their individuality itself creates an aura of pure Luxury and Sophistication. Rolls Royce cars no matter what happens, they always place themselves on top of every other car brand like, they are the last step for the one finding the epitome of undoubted Royalty.
Recently, this brand unveiled one of its ‘coachbuilding’ projects, the Rolls Royce ‘LA ROSE NOIRE’ Drop Tail. This car is an example of ultimate luxury taking the avatar of a Roadster. This also happens to be the second Roadster from their line-up of cars after the Rolls Royce Dawn.
But, unlike the Rolls Royce Dawn, it has been given its own kind of feel and characteristics, to make it stand unique and beautiful.
We all are aware of what level of detail Rolls Royce puts in their cars. Each and every bit of the metal used has been given a meaning to it, and not just for the sake of building. The design of Rolls Royce’s always finds a new, yet astonishing way to make you fall in love with it. The same is the case with the Prime of beauty - The Rolls Royce Drop Tail.
Even though Drop Tail is a Roadster, the brand has managed to make it look handsome from every angle of it.
Starting from the front, the traditional Rolls Royce grille which used to be a straight-standing piece of identity, now has been given some touches of uniqueness. The upper portion of the grille has been given an ‘inclined towards the body look’, and adding more to it, the bottom vertices of the grille panels, which earlier used to form a 90-degree angle with the borderline of the grille, now get a slight, but pleasant curve to integrate them into borderline in a soft manner.
Coming to the headlights, as said by the officials, the headlamps have been designed to maintain a simple, yet smooth-flowing design. They have also been deeply integrated into the primary body line.
The Side of the car is designed very thoughtfully! The front hood from where the car has an extremely bold and upright stance, well, it has been done purposely to add the design flow to the car. Following this, at the back we can see an easy ending, where the tail of the car has been designed in a way that it could give a roadster look to the one who looks at the car. We can also spot the uneven proportion between the side body panel and the window area, where a large door panel dominates the side over a small window area, and according to the officials, it has been done so that the customers could sit low and have a sense of security being in the car.
The Rear of the car has been crafted in a way that the design which flows from the front to the back, ultimately comes at a centered point at the tail. Where we can see lines defining the design’s concentration towards the center. A floating design element or a ‘wing’ has also been integrated at the back, which gives a significant amount of downforce to the car, which ultimately gives better drivability on offer.
Talking about the Roadster’s convertible aspect, well, this is what differentiates the Drop Tail from any other Roadster. The Drop Tail’s roof is a Hard-Top unit, that can be retracted on the touch of a button. And if you observe one thing even the retractable hard-top has been designed so perfectly that ultimately when it retracts completely, it ends up contributing to the smooth flow of the design which we talked about earlier. It doesn’t feel like it is a separate part of the body, which is extraordinary!
The interior of the Drop Tail has been designed in a way that connects with the whole feel of the car. The first design gesture that has been used would be the bonnet borderline over the wheels which runs from the front till the side of the windshield has been taken inside of the cabin, further creating a loop behind the seats.
The next gesture would be the Rose-Red Triangular inserts, and to tell you, all of those triangular elements have been placed by a human hand. Yes, it has been done so carefully that ultimately it looks like it is a part of the paint process, but no! In fact, this was one of the customer’s demands for the brand that the red velvet ambiance which the car carries throughout should give a ‘Romantic’ and an ‘Intimidating’ essence inside as well. That is why, scattered roses throughout the interior have been included. Well done Rolls Royce!
Moving forward to the dashboard, the dashboard also carries the same aura of the car, which is soft and beautiful. Some notable inserts like an integrated wearable watch in the Dashboard - The consumer’s demand was that the car should be connected to him and whatever inserts the car would have should be very useful.
Now let’s talk about some facts about Drop Tail’s supremely detailed crafting,
The paint on use over the exterior of the body contains 5 layers of Clear Coating, just to make sure that every smallest of the metal body in use has been embellished with that gorgeous Red Velvet color.
The Interior quality as said is exceptional and high on magnificence! The areas where ‘wood’ has been used, took a literal 9 months in the making because the person in charge only worked for an hour every single day for the period of 9 months, just to make sure he put superior focus on his work.
Other than this, the whole interior design elements and every pinch of its detail took a whole of 2 years in the making. Only, so that the customer could be satisfied with each and every aspect of the interior of the product.
The Drop Tail uses the same petrol engine which is also in use in their mighty Phantom. A 6.7 L, Twin Turbo, V12 which produces 600hp, which is 30hp more than the Phantom’s.
Excluding the showcased model on the internet, Rolls Royce would be making 3 more units of the ‘LA ROSE NOIRE’ Drop Tail. Which will ultimately make it one of the rarest cars ever to be made.
The Price of the Drop Tail stated by some speculations from the industry is kept at $32 Million (US dollars), which if converted into Indian Rupees and also added all the taxes could imply if exported, it jumps to a literal amount of ₹262 Cr. So, no doubt it will be the best car ever to be made by Rolls Royce!
