New 2023 TATA NEXON is going to eat Maruti Brezza, Unveiled

September 2nd, 2023

It was the time between 2021 - 2023, where Nexon showed us - what it is made of! It was ruling its segment back then. But, we have to accept one fact that it missed out on some crucial aspects, which even though alternatively, still was pulling the Nexon back. Hence, it was a clear way for the likes of Maruti Brezza to surpass the Nexon.

However, it is time! The dominance can be felt right away in the Sub 4-metre SUVs, because Tata Motors have finally arrived with the REAL GAME! And the game, in case you are not aware of, is the 2023 Tata Nexon.

2023 Tata Nexon unveil

Man-o-man! The facelifted Nexon is just Supreme, Prime, Pre-eminant, and already looks like the Paramount of the Sub 4-metre SUVs.

It was officially unveiled yesterday by Tata Motors (1st September 2023). And this time around, the brand has revealed almost all of its details in the unveiling event itself, of course not the Drive experience.

Hence, in this article, we will scan the whole car for you, so that it would be easier for you to understand the 2023 Tata Nexon.

Platform : A Safety Hub!

Well, as they say, we should never forget our roots, so why not start with it?

The 2023 Nexon will sit on the ALFA architecture, which by the way, underpins the Altroz and the Punch from Tata Motors too.

2023 Tata Nexon Platform

This particular chassis, as said by Tata Motors, is built to provide supreme Agility, and simultaneously being Light as well. Its Iron Clad Skeleton system assures safety to the passengers, and it has already proved itself for that.

It had already scored 4-Safety ratings in the Global NCAP, and also has been the safest Indian car once at its time. But, our hopes surge high for the 2023 Tata Nexon to be even more safer.

Powertrains : Improvements towards right Direction

The previous gen Tata Nexon had an option of two hearts to run on. And the 2023 Tata Nexon has neither lost any, nor introduced a new one. Though it has made some great, and much needed improvements.

2023 Tata Nexon Engine options

The 2023 Nexon retains both of its engines - 1.2 L Petrol Engine & 1.5 L Diesel Engine. These engines are paired with a total of 4 Transmission options - 5 Speed Manual, 6 Speed Manual, 6 Speed AMT, and 7 Speed DCA (DCT).

The 1.2 L Petrol engine is a Turbocharged Revotron unit of Tata Motors, which puts out a total of 120 hp & 170 Nm of Torque. It is mated to all four Transmission units - 5 Speed Manual, 6 Speed Manual, 6 Speed AMT, and 7 Speed DCA (DCT).

On the other hand, the 1.5 L Diesel engine is also a Turbocharged Revotron unit, which holds the ability to produce 115 hp & 260 Nm of Torque. This particular Diesel engine only gets two Transmission options, which are 6 Speed Manual and 6 Speed AMT.

Measurements : Faintly changed

The 2023 Tata Nexon has surprises in terms of its measurements, it is more Long as well as Tall, it is a bit less Wide, and it is bigger in terms of its Boot space. The precise numbers can be seen below in the Table.

In the following table, a comparison is made between the Old Tata Nexon and the New 2023 Tata Nexon -

Exterior : A new-age Smarty

2023 Tata Nexon design

Tata Motors now have discovered the Mantra of attractive designs, and the 2023 Tata Nexon is the first one to use it. This new Nexon looks extraordinary, if we compare it to its Rivals. Honestly, now Nexon’s rivals seem to have no confidence or a sense of a design, when standing in front of the 2023 Nexon.

Front

The Front of the new Nexon now looks more alive and up-to-the-mark. It gives an optimistic vibe throughout its Front fascia, as the design has been kept proportionate, and full of style at the same time.

Starting with - The upcoming 2023 Tata Nexon, will be offered with the Tata Cars’ new-age design trait, with respect to the Headlamp setup. In which, the main headlamp unit and the DRLs will be separately placed.

Where the DRLs are placed at the top of the front bumper, just below the hood. They have also been redesigned, by giving them the ‘Tata Curvv’ like DRLs, though with one change, where in, Tata Curvv had got its DRLs turning upwards, further integrating into the hood. But over here, we can see that the 2023 Tata Nexon will be getting the DRLs turning downwards, further merging into the Wheel Arch. The Indicators will also be integrated into the DRLs, moreover, the indicators will be packing the ‘Sequentially Indicating’ function as well.

Adding more to it, DRLs are integrated within Nexon’s traditional Black design insert, but this time, the black design insert has also been tweaked a bit in terms of its look. It has now been elongated till both the front ends, and it also gets a scoop now, which runs throughout that black unit. It kind of makes the 2023 Nexon look smiling in the first place, which overall gives it a positive aura. The Tata logo can be spotted attached at the centre of the Black design insert.

2023 Tata Nexon features

Talking of the Headlamps, the 2023 Nexon will get a complete LED setup for the first time. It will pack one LED projector, with two small Fog Lamps situated below the LED projector. These Fog Lamps will also consist of 'Cornering Function'.

Sliding down, Air Dams have also been redesigned in order to achieve a relative design language for the Nexon. Where we can see that it will be offered with all its Air dams placed below, unlike the previous Gen Nexon. They have been designed into a triangular element, in which, the line which runs between the headlamps divides them, further creating two Air dam units. The upper part of it gets a 5 Slat design insert, out of which the middle slate is used for the 360 degree camera’s front unit . Whereas, the lower part’s design has parted its ways with Tata’s Tri-arrow design element used in the older Nexon, and now it gets a sliced-squares kind of design bits, which are spreaded across the lower bumper.

Side

The Side of the 2023 Nexon is somewhat similar to the older Nexon, where the Wheel arches, Side Claddings, and that one big line running throughout the Door Handles are exactly the same.

Though it still packs some minimal changes -

The Alloy Wheels, the alloys now get a Turbine inspired design, which gives the overall design of the car an extra point. It suits the aura of the design. On the other hand, the Tyre size of the Nexon have also been kept the same -

The Harrier / Safari styled ORVMs, the ORVMs have gotten an upgrade. They have been given the design touch from the ones in the Harrier & the Safari. Due to which they also seem to be more.

Other than these two changes, the whole car from its Side Profile has been kept the same.

Rear

The 2023 Tata Nexon will also be getting its Rear profile slightly redesigned. And most of the ‘redesigning’ part will be done with the tail lights. Where, in a context, we can see that these tail lights actually get the same design language, as of the old Nexon’s Tail lights, in which at the end, they are divided into two rays, which somewhat created an UK Flag’s shape.

But, with the 2023 Nexon’s tail lights having the same design language, they are still different, because the tail lights now can be seen to become more sleek, and they now create more of a ‘V’ shape after they get divided, rather than an UK Flag’s shape, which looks much better! Adding more to it, now there is also a LED Brake light bar, which connects the tail lamps.

Secondly, we can also notice that the Reverse Light’s position has been relocated, and now it has been placed above the Rear Reflector. It has also been given a new design for its housing, which resembles the Head Lamp’s design from the front.

Next, the Tata Logo has been given a 3D treatment, where in, it looks like it has emerged out. Adding more to it, the 360 degree camera’s Rear unit can be seen attached right below the Logo.

On top, you can not spot the Rear wipers, right? Don’t worry, 2023 Nexon gets it, but with a slight bit of thoughtfulness into its placement. It has been placed below the Rear spoiler, which ultimately creates some room for the design to shine more.
