Official Details of 2024 Toyota Vellfire Revealed

June 23rd, 2023

Following a leak from earlier this month, Toyota has today released the first batch of official images and technical details for the brand-new Vellfire MPV. The new Toyota Vellfire is connected to the second-generation Lexus LM350h MPV, which made its debut a few weeks ago and is more sumptuous. Before being made available in other countries, the new Vellfire will first go on sale in Japan.

External Styling

The Vellfire's general body design, including the glasshouse, is strikingly similar to that of the Lexus LM. The new Vellfire appears to have continued the previous model's design in terms of appearance. Even while the MPV has an undeniably Vellfire overall profile, closer inspection reveals several variances. First of all, there is no longer a noticeable divider aft of the driver's door and the side glasshouse has become a single unit with a prominent kink that merges with the front door windows. The MPV has a more upscale appearance thanks to the blackened pillars with a chrome outline.

The MPV's fascia, including portion of the bumper, is mostly taken up by a massive six-slat grille. The grille has a huge Toyota emblem in the middle and two levels of headlights, with the top layer being somewhat longer and holding the primary projector headlamp setup. A noticeable connecting chrome strip that forms a U-shaped design starts vertically below the headlight on one side of the chin and links to the opposite side.

The MPV's rear has a V-shaped tail-lamp enclosure with plenty of chrome trim, noticeable Vellfire badging, and a large Toyota logo in the centre. A sizable spoiler with a chrome frame is positioned at the top and contains the third stop lamp. The rear also features a U-shaped chrome rim that connects vertically from one side to the other.

Interior and Features

The seats have been updated to be more comfortable, and there are new pull-down sun shades and a big overhead console for the passengers to use to handle the car's numerous features.

Toyota claims that the new Vellfire has less vibration and more soundproofing material than the preceding model. The dashboard of the new Vellfire appears more simpler and has fewer buttons than the previous model since most of the vehicle's functions are now integrated onto the large touchscreen that sits in the middle of the dashboard.

Around the gear lever on the center console are controls for the driving modes, traction control, and electronic parking brake. The driver now gets a digital instrument cluster, and the steering wheel has a new form.  According to Toyota, a Super-Long Overhead Console is now a standard feature on the new Vellfire. It contains internal ambient lighting components, several controls, and AC vents in the center of the roof rather than on the sides like the previous Vellfire. The new Vellfire's sunroof has right- and left-side curtains that may be opened independently of one another.

The executive lounge package of the Vellfire, which is also offered in India on the previous model, still comes with the captain chairs with a retractable table as well as the heating and ventilation for the seats. Additionally, a new detachable control panel is available for passengers to adjust the media temperature and sunshades.

Platform And Powertrain

TNGA platform common in all toyota vehicles after 2022

The most recent Vellfire MPV sports an all-new design, similar to the Lexus LM. In addition to being backed by Toyota's TNGA-K modular platform, it is lighter than its predecessor. The new Vellfire maintains its boxy appearance while being somewhat longer than the present variant at just under five meters. Due to its cab-forward design, the Vellfire has a three-meter-long wheelbase and plenty of room for up to six people.

One of the two engine options for the new Vellfire is a turbocharged 2.4-liter, four-cylinder petrol engine with 275 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. Alongside it is a CVT gearbox. A 2.5-liter, four-cylinder petrol-hybrid with an e-CVT transmission and a combined output of 250 horsepower serve as the second engine option.

Will It Launch In India

The outgoing Toyota Vellfire, which has been a popular model for the brand in India, doesn't now have a direct rival. Although Toyota has not yet acknowledged it, we believe the new Vellfire will be introduced to India sometime next year
