Ola Electric Sedans Patent gets registered. Rendered Look is revealed

June 25th, 2023

Ola's electric vehicle finally materializes after several teases and concept films, and it has cameras in place of mirrors.

At the vanguard of India's EV revolution has been Ola Electric. This electric scooter startup has had an incredible run, and in a short period of time, it has become the top electric scooter brand in the nation. In May 2023, Ola sold 35K electric scooters, making them by a wide margin the top seller in the 2W EV market. The business has stated plans to introduce electric automobiles in addition to 2W EVs.

There have been several concept videos and teasers. However, Ola has now secured a patent for the design of its first electric vehicle. Ola has entered the 4W EV space with an electric vehicle and appears to have chosen Tesla as its primary inspiration. Let's examine the situation.

Shape And Style of the OLA Sedan

We may infer from its design that it is unique among the 28 electric automobiles that India receives. Ola has chosen an organic and aerodynamic design language as a start. The smoothness of all the body panels is a clear indication of this. This vehicle has no sharp edges, which should result in reduced air resistance.

Ola has maintained a straightforward teardrop signature. Maximum aerodynamic efficiency is ensured by the low set bonnet, high rake A-pillars, sloping roofline, and tidy rear end. Subtle body lines may be seen along the sides, ensuring that air flows through the sides without resistance. On the bonnet, there are also beautifully fitted air guides.

Two crevices on the front bumper are probably useful. The air will flow into these fissures and into the front wheels. These direct air in the shape of a teardrop, cooling the brakes in the process. The front bumper has a little air inlet that will be used to cool the batteries. In keeping with aerodynamics, wheels appear to minimize air drag.

A large LED DRL bar in the front will generate a welcoming smile in terms of design. Similar to the concept video, there are modern headlights with two 'U-shaped LED DRL signatures. The windscreen wipers, which produce a lot of turbulence, were likely concealed. To maintain a neat appearance, door handles are probably in the pillars.

Performance and Range

ORVMs are not mentioned in this patent. Ola is therefore likely to entirely switch to digital cameras. The LED tail light bar will likely resemble the front. The patent displays a dual-tone aesthetic with a black roof and pillars, as well as dual-tone wheels.

Ola's first electric car would be a homegrown product, including its battery, according to enthusiastic Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal. The best bet, in our opinion, would be a battery with a capacity of between 50 and 80 kWh and a real-world range of between 300 and 600 km. As shown in the teaser, Ola's interior will have two-spoke steering and a central infotainment screen. The steering wheel has an octagonal form rather than being circular. There is a wide and short instrumentation screen that might even offer a HUD.

Launch

The car is due in 2024 and we know that Ola is not targeting the budget segment. It is instead going premium with its first electric car, with a starting price that's likely upwards of Rs 25 lakh.
