One of our Carversal Pros sent us a very interesting Spy shot of the Tata Punch EV, where we can see the EV is being charged in the Tata’s Manufacturing facility in Pune, as we can see a board mentioning ‘Service’ on the wall behind and we can also spot two more Tata cars - Tata Zest and Tata Tiago - standing right beside the Punch EV.
So, let’s try to look out some details about the Tata Punch EV with the help of this Spy shot.
The very first detail is that the charging port of the Tata Punch EV will be placed below the humanity line, which separates the glossy black unit containing Tri-arrows and the bumper. And this would be the first Tata EV which would have its charging port situated at the front, as rest all the EVs - Nexon EV, Tiago EV, and Tigor EV - have their charging ports situated at the side where traditionally Fuel Lid is placed.
And practically this would be a much more convenient change for the users, as a side mounted charging port usually creates issues for short charging plug wires at some charging stations.
The Front bumper on this spied Tata Punch EV is the same as the current ICE Tata Punch. Which means, no design changes will be done to differentiate the Punch EV from the ICE Punch.
The Alloy wheels which are in-use on this particular spied Punch EV are actually like the ones available in the Tata Tiago. Though we expect that these alloys are being used just for testing purposes, and the production-ready Punch EV would have a different & a typical EV-like set of Alloy wheels.
The Headlamp units on this spied Punch EV are the same as on the ICE Punch, Halogen Projectors and reflectors. Which further tells us that no LEDs or the new Tata’s layout for Headlamps - like in the 2024 Nexon - will be brought in with the Punch EV.
Now, let us discuss some probable questions you guys might have about the upcoming Tata Punch EV -
We expect Tata to price their upcoming Punch EV somewhere around ₹12 lakhs.
Like the other Tata EVs, the Punch EV would also be provided with two battery pack options.
The First battery pack, we assume, could be of 25 kWh, which will provide a real world range of around 180 - 230 Kms. This battery pack will be available in the base variant of the Punch EV.
The Second Battery pack, we assume, could be of 30 kWh , which might give a real world range of around 220 - 270 Kms . This battery pack will be provided in the Top model of Punch EV.
Tata Punch EV will be launched with a decent amount of features like, new 10 inch Infotainment system, new Centre console, new Drive Selector, and some tweaks in the Interior design.
Tata Punch Battery replacement price could range around ₹5 - 7 lakhs. This might sound expensive, but not one thing that battery replacement is done on average of every 8 - 10 years.
Tata Punch EV is expected to launch till November 2023, mostly after the 2024 Nexon's launch.
