Sunroof is a feature which Indians would never deny having in their cars. It is so loved that the cars which don’t even have a sunroof, their owners unofficially cut its roof to accommodate a sunroof in it. Well, this is not safe, but the thing which we should focus on should be the obsession of theirs for a sunroof. After all, it is a cool gimmicky feature to have in a car. And there are many cars on sale in India who pack this feature. Unfortunately, sunroof is a feature which is available on cars which are quite expensive, mostly cars above ₹ 12 lakhs. Till now!

Because since the launch of the Hyundai Exter things have changed a bit. Because it is now the most affordable SUV of sorts - to have a sunroof. But to tell you a fact, Exter might not be a safe car. Yes, I do agree with the fact that Hyundai did mention that the Exter is going to be a very safe car, but I believe in practical tests because just having a feature of 6 airbags doesn’t make a car safe. So the question here is, do we have a car which has the sunroof feature and is quite affordable and also it is a very safe car. To answer this, Yes! We just got one.

It is the Tata Punch. Tata recently launched Punch’s CNG variants which also brought in the sunroof feature with them. Unfortunately, when the CNG variants were launched, the sunroof was just kept limited for those variants and not for normal petrol powered Tata Punch variants. But now, even the petrol powered Tata Punch variants get the sunroof feature in them. Which by the way also makes it the SECOND MOST AFFORDABLE SUV which has a sunroof feature, or the SAFEST and the SECOND MOST AFFORDABLE SUV to have the sunroof feature. I might be wrong for the ‘safest’ remark, but let’s wait for the Hyundai Exter’s crash test results.

But, Tata Punch also now becomes TATA’s most affordable SUV to have the sunroof feature. Earlier, it was the Nexon but now it is the Punch which has received that tag. So, let's talk about - Punch becoming the most affordable TATA SUV to have a Sunroof feature.

So, Tata has provided a total of 8 variants of the petrol powered Punch which now gets the sunroof feature in them as well. It starts with the Accomplished variant and ends at the Creative variant. Tata has decided not to include the sunroof feature in the base variant and the second base variant - Pure variant and the Adventure variant respectively. Well, we could expect anything because Tata could bring in the sunroof in its second base variant - Adventure variant too. Because they did the same thing with their Altroz. It packs the sunroof from its second base variant which is the XM variant. So, Tata Punch Adventure variant ( second base variant ) getting a sunroof in future can heavily be anticipated.

So, explaining the Punch’s variants which get the feature with an ascending ex-showroom price order -

 ( I have not included the one CNG variant - ACCOMPLISHED DAZZLE S CNG at ₹ 9.68 Lakhs - in this list, as we know that it was  already launched with the particular feature. Therefore, I have just mentioned the Petrol powered variants and their prices )

ACCOMPLISHED S MT at ₹ 8.25 Lakhs 

This variant is the one which makes it the most affordable Tata SUV to get the sunroof feature and also is the one which is the first to get a sunroof throughout the petrol powered Tata Punch variants

ACCOMPLISHED DAZZLE S MT at ₹ 8.65 Lakhs

This is the second most affordable variant of the petrol powered Tata Punch to get a sunroof.

ACCOMPLISHED S AMT at ₹ 8.85 Lakhs

This is the third most affordable variant of the petrol powered Tata Punch to get a sunroof.

CREATIVE DUAL TONE S MT at ₹ 9.20 Lakhs

This one becomes the fourth most affordable variant of the petrol powered Tata Punch to get a sunroof.

ACCOMPLISHED DAZZLE S AMT at ₹ 9.25 Lakhs

This one is the fifth most affordable petrol powered Tata Punch variant to have a sunroof feature.

CREATIVE FLAGSHIP DUAL TONE S MT at ₹ 9.50 Lakh

This is the sixth most affordable variant to have a sunroof.

CREATIVE DUAL TONE S AMT at ₹ 9.80 Lakhs

This becomes the seventh most affordable variant of the petrol powered Punch to have this feature.

 

CREATIVE FLAGSHIP DUAL TONE S AMT at ₹ 10.10 Lakhs

This one is the eighth variant of the petrol powered Tata Punch to have a sunroof.

So, these were all the variants of the Petrol powered Tata Punch to get an addition in the name of sunroof. Well, we think that this feature will actually boost Tata Punch’s performance in terms of monthly sales figures and it might bring the car into the top 5’s list too.
