Tesla Cyber Truck launched at ₹50 Lakhs, India Launch Details

December 5th, 2023

Who does not support a revolution? It is something that brings maybe a much-needed or an unnecessary change, but after all, it remains to be a change. A new start, or a reboot of sorts, is surely enjoyable and appreciated. It is something that we would happily accept at any point in time. Okay, are you confused? Basically, we are talking about the Tesla CYBERTRUCK. This is something that has finally brought a revolution in many ways. Moreover, as it has been launched in the United States, there is a lot to talk about. Therefore, let us get into the topic of the Tesla Cyber Truck launched at ₹50 Lakhs, India Launch Details.

About the Tesla CYBERTRUCK

First, showcased in 2019, where it struck everyone with its absolute uniqueness and individuality. Headlines focused on only one thing that day: The Future is here

So, CYBERTRUCK is basically a Pickup Truck that Tesla showcased an idea of in 2019, of course, in its conceptual avatar. But the one thing about that concept was that it was too futuristic or different to have it in that way in reality. In fact, everyone had a doubt that this concept would be toned down to a point where it would be believable.

Well, today, when it has actually been launched in its production form, it seems Tesla stood firm on what they had in mind about this: Making it as Futuristic as they could

The CYBERTRUCK being a Tesla at last, obviously, ticks the fact that it is an Electric Pickup Truck.

Tesla CYBERTRUCK Design

After so many articles where we have described a Car’s Design, it seems the CYBERTRUCK will be the easiest to write about its details. Yes, as there is nothing but a very minimalist approach. Still, the CYBERTRUCK happens to have a unique design language throughout that deserves to be talked about.

Tesla CYBERTRUCK Front Design

Tesla CYBERTRUCK front design

The front of the Tesla CYBERTRUCK stays low, unlike any other Pickup Truck, which has its nose standing tall. The design of the Front is completely made up of one stainless steel metal sheet that has no curves to amplify any bit of its beauty. All it has is just a slight tilt on both sides, which has been done to create continuity in the design.

Next comes one of the many revolutions that the CYBERTRUCK has brought with it. We are talking about the Headlights. The headlamps of the vehicle are very different from what you have seen till now. There is this traditional yet mandatory LED DRL, which is, of course, very bright, as it is so huge. The actual main headlamps are situated below, which at times might not be visible, as they are a very keen and small row of LED beams on both sides of the front.

After this, there happens to be a very special feature which everyone might like. Basically, the CYBERTRUCK, being an electric vehicle, happens to free up a lot of space from its front, where we usually see an engine. This gives an electric vehicle a decent amount of usable space in its front, and ultimately, it is also called a frunk. So, just to have more convenience, Tesla has provided an Electric opening to its frunk.

Moreover, there is one interesting aspect of this Truck. As we all know, CYBERTRUCK happens to have a very different design. This makes this vehicle pack a lot of unique bits, one of which is its Windscreen. The CYBERTRUCK happens to have the biggest windscreen in any pickup truck or even a car. It is long and placed extremely slanted, which makes it appear even larger.

Now, one last thing about this: as we talked about the CYBERTRUCK having the biggest windscreen, it is pretty obvious that it needs a different setup of wipers. What do you think? Does it have three wipers to serve the purpose? Well, this case is totally different, as it packs only one wiper. Okay, we know you have the ‘Biggest Question’ mark for this right now. Well, we would just tell you to replace that biggest question mark with the ‘Biggest Wiper’. The CYBERTRUCK not only has the biggest windscreen but also the Biggest wiper to clean it.

Now, let us talk about some features that we are availed of on the CYBERTRUCK’s Front profile -

Front Camera -

Now, this might be a bit weird to hear that Tesla till now did not have a single Front-view Camera in any of its cars, but the CYBERTRUCK now happens to have it for the first time for Tesla. Obviously, it is very evident to have this, as the truck itself is much bigger than the other Teslas, comparatively.

ADAS -

Advanced Driving Assistive Systems first became popular because of one video of a Tesla car, in which a man was sleeping, and the car was driving itself. So, ultimately, it is very obvious that the CYBERTRUCK will have this particular feature stored. In fact, we can even claim that the Tesla software that this system uses to drive a Tesla car is way more advanced and safe compared to any other software from any kind of vehicle.

Tesla CYBERTRUCK Side Design

Tesla CYBERTRUCK side design

On the Side, the ‘Unique Factor’ that we talked about comes into the spotlight. The overall shape of the pickup truck totally resembles and answers the question of this truck’s design having such unconventionality into itself.

Starting with the wheels, they are very distinctive from what we have seen till now. They might seem a lot bigger than they actually are. Basically, the CYBERTRUCK runs on 20-inch Black alloy wheels, which have the spoke pattern design for them. But, the talking point is that they have been kept covered with an even bigger, maybe 21-inch wheel cover. Plus, this thing does not end here. The tires of the CYBERTRUCK, too, have a purpose. If observed closely, we can see that there has been a very different design crafted onto the tires, as well. Let us explain -

If you will notice, the wheel covers have 7 spokes that extrude a bit outwards from the design. There is a reason for this. Basically, the tires have 7 block patterns crafted on their walls. This has been done so that the spokes on the wheel covers that extrude a bit outwards they can come and match with those blocks on the tires; this helps bring in a continuity factor.

Next up are the wheel claddings. They are very minimal, as they lack thickness in them. But the thing is that if we have a look at them, they have a design that is very angular. Now, usually, this is not the case, as the design for the wheel claddings is either semi-circular or cubical, but the matter is that they contain curves in them. On the other hand, the wheel claddings on the CYBERTRUCK do not have any kind of curves; they have sharp vertices.

Next in the line stands the absence of wheel arches. If we notice, there is no single-wheel arch over any one of the four wheels. It is, again, one simple and plain sheet of metal used. However, there is this one line that kind of makes the upper half of the body go upwards in a slant manner, further creating a contrast in its design.

Yes, we know you are confused about where the door handles are. So, a simple Tesla affair, where Tesla manages to use the most unique kind of door handles in their cars. In fact, the integrated plush door handles were made famous by Tesla when they used them in their Model S and Model 3, and of course, how can we forget about the Falcon Doors? The Model X was the first ever car to have it. So, what is new with the CYBERTRUCK? CYBERTRUCK has introduced this new kind of Door opening, where you would not find any Door handles on the sides, but what you will find is a button, which, when pressed, the door pushes itself out, and further, you can pull the door and get in.

Now comes the Triangular shape of the roof. Of how many pickup trucks we have looked at, all of them had this similarity, which is that they have a straight-horizontally running roofline that ends once the luggage bed starts. Well, things are different over here, as we mentioned revolution, right? Basically, the roofline of the CYBERTRUCK is shaped like the upper half of a triangle, where the upper vertex starts from the B-pillar on this pickup truck. Anyway, this, ultimately, makes the rear window area a bit small for anyone’s liking, as even the window’s shape follows the shape of the roofline.

After this, if we have our eyes looking after the C-pillar, we can see that we have a long slanting side wall made for the luggage bed. This, in fact, is again different than others.

Now, let us talk about some features that we are availed of on the CYBERTRUCK’s Side profile -

First is the Side Cameras -

Now, usually, when we talk about the side cameras, we often tend to look underneath the side rearview mirrors. This is because every other brand locates the side cameras of the 360-degree camera system at that place. But, in the CYBERTRUCK, things are different. You will find no side cameras placed underneath the side rearview mirrors; in fact, the side cameras are placed on the front wheel claddings.

Adjustable Air Suspension -

Air Suspensions are something that we should expect from such expensive vehicles, and CYBERTRUCK, after all, is a Tesla; it surely packs this feature. The Air Suspension in the CYBERTRUCK is more capable than any normal air suspension that we have seen on any car or pickup truck. Tesla confirms that no matter how much weight you put on the vehicle, the suspension system will still work as it should, even if the weight had not been there.

So, there are a total of 4 settings under which the suspension can be adjusted. The base set is called ‘ Entry ’; this particular suspension height is purely coded in order to have the truck lay low close to the ground, so it would be an easy and convenient entry into the pickup truck. After this, there comes the ‘ Low ’ setting. This particular setting can also be called base 2, as it is suited for normal drives. Basically, this setting is not as tall as the previous entry setting. Then comes the ‘ Medium ’ setting. The medium setting is the one from where the ride height might actually feel a bit high. It is better for light off-road. At last, the ‘ High ’ setting. This one is the maximum height setting, and surely, it should be used for serious off-road.

Tesla CYBERTRUCK Rear Design

Tesla CYBERTRUCK Rear design

The CYBERTRUCK, when looked at from the back, is, again, a very simple, plain, and boxy design. It has a simple rectangular tailgate, which opens downwards, like a pickup truck.

The Tail lights are placed on top of the Tailgate, also acting as a border. It is very similar to the front LED DRL, as it is a long LED strip. The indicators are, of course, integrated into the Tail lights.

Then, of course, as this happens to be a pickup truck, there will be a luggage bed. This luggage bed, as said by the Tesla officials, is 6 feet in length and 4 feet in breadth. In this luggage bed, you can carry up to about 1.1 Ton of payload.

Now, let us talk about some features that we are availed of on the CYBERTRUCK’s Rear profile -

Electric Shutter for the Luggage Bed -

This might also be one of the rarest features on any pickup truck that, in fact, has been given as standard. So, there is this black shutter for the luggage bed that opens electronically and goes into the space between the cabin and the luggage bed when opened fully. You can also open it according to your preference, as there is a button on the left wall of the luggage bed to operate the shutter.

Secondly, this shutter itself is very rigid, and it can literally hold a full-grown adult’s standing weight.

Tesla CYBERTRUCK bulletproof

Thus, this was all about the Tesla CYBERTRUCK’s exterior design. We should appreciate this bold move made by Tesla in terms of its design. It is very rare to see a brand going so far and carrying such a risk in its hands. Fortunately, it seems that CYBERTRUCK has been accepted throughout the world very much.

Moreover, going around with some unique approaches makes it even more cooler to have. The stainless steel metal used all around the vehicle is actually the primary metal of this vehicle. Yes, this Stainless Steel metal sheet has not been covered up on some other kind of metal sheet. In fact, a particular number of sheets have been hydraulically pressed so hard, which has now made the CYBERTRUCK literally bulletproof. This becomes the first vehicle to have the ability to handle a bullet as standard.

Tesla CYBERTRUCK Interiors

CYBERTRUCK’s interiors are nothing different than any other Tesla model. It carries the identical layout of the dashboard and overall design. But, still, there are a few bits here and there, which need to be talked of.

Tesla CYBERTRUCK Interiors

(The IRVM visible in the picture is an accessory)

Let us commence with the CYBERTRUCK Dashboard. The CYBERTRUCK happens to have the longest-ever Dashboard compared to any kind of pickup truck or car. Basically, being an electric vehicle, the CYBERTRUCK has its front empty, as there are no mechanical components placed there. This makes the utilization of more space for its interior, which is why Tesla has extended its interior toward the front, leaving a decent amount of space for the frunk.

The material used over the CYBERTRUCK’s dashboard also seems to be very rich. Of course, this truck being almost a $80 thousand pickup truck, it is evident that it will have premium quality materials used for its interiors.

Tesla CYBERTRUCK touch screens

Next is the 18-inch Infotainment system used on the dashboard, which also is the only screen on the dashboard, as there is no Instrument Cluster. Moreover, it is also the most advanced Infotainment system can have on any kind of car or pickup truck, whether, it be an EV or ICE vehicle. In fact, all the features that we listed out on the exterior, like the trunk’s shutter and electric frunk or even the charging port cover, and also the suspension height adjustability, everything could be controlled by that screen. Also, you can even have your glove box opened through that screen, which means you actually do not have any kind of physical button to open the glove box. Look, it is surely massive and packs a long list of utilitarian features, but unfortunately, this utility does not collaborate with the practical bit; rather, it goes towards being very risky and inconvenient at times.

So basically, what we mean by this is that the CYBERTRUCK does not have an inside rearview mirror. Instead, it has a camera that displays the perspective of the rear on the screen. Now, this feature by itself is against the habitual head movement of checking out the rear through the inside rearview mirror, as now you will have to adjust your muscle memory by looking into the screen.

There is also a 9-inch screen behind the armrest to fulfil the entertainment and comfort needs of the rear passengers. This screen also adjusts the way the AC vent flows.

Tesla CYBERTRUCK centre console

Moving forward comes the centre console, which itself has only three things to offer. First comes the Wireless Charging pad that can accommodate two mobile phones simultaneously. Then appears the two cup holders, and after that comes the armrest. That is it, nothing more.

Now, if the centre console has only these three things, then what about the Drive selectors? The Drive selectors on the CYBERTRUCK are positioned in place of the IRVM. So, there are these five buttons that, too, are touch-sensitive; they are not haptic. Basically, on the roof, where you might usually see an IRVM, there is this one slim bar that contains these five buttons - Hazard, Parking, Drive, Reverse, and Neutral

Tesla CYBERTRUCK moon roof

Then, if we move forward and look at the top, you will actually see no roof. Well, there is a roof, but made up of complete glass. Yes, it is a moonroof and not a Sunroof. Unfortunate for all the Indian fans!

Next, there should be one serious question: if the CYBERTRUCK does not have a roof, then does even have a windshield sun blocker? Yes, but the hook for attaching it is not there. Instead, there is this strong magnet connected to the rod of the sun blocker, which, when brought near the bar with all the drive selective buttons, pops out and sticks to that bar.

Tesla CYBERTRUCK steering wheel

Now, we shall move towards the Driver’s perspective. The Steering wheel. Well, when one of the conceptual pictures of the interiors of the CYBERTRUCK was shown last year, there was a yoke steering wheel, which is also present in the Tesla Model S Plaid version. Just in case you are not aware of this, the yoke steering wheel is hated the most in a Tesla car because it steals away the practicality and usability experience. Fortunately, though, in the CYBERTRUCK, there is this beautiful and very attractive steering wheel that seems to be inspired by the yoke-styled steering wheel but looks like a regular steering wheel.

The Cyber Truck also happens to be the first Tesla car to not have a Tesla logo on its steering wheel. Plus, it does not have any levers to operate the indicators or lights or even wipers, as indicators have taken the place of buttons that are now placed on the steering wheel. About the wipers and light controls, they are embedded in the screen.

Tesla CYBERTRUCK Battery Packs

Tesla CYBERTRUCK battery

The Tesla CYBERTRUCK is available in a total of 3 variants -

Rear Wheel Drive

All Wheel Drive

CYBERBEAST

The Rear Wheel Drive variant happens to have a 400 kms. It can accelerate from 0 - 100 in about 6.5 seconds. Its Top speed is 180 km per hour. Unfortunately, this particular model is not available now, and it will make its entry in 2025. But, for sure, with all the numbers, this variant seems to be the Base variant of all.

Second comes the All Wheel Drive variant which also happens to be the second or the mid variant of the CYBERTRUCK. This variant has a standard range of 550 kms, but when upgraded with the Range extender pack, it can go up to 760 kms. This accelerated from 0 - 100 in 4.1 seconds. Its Top speed is also limited to 180 km per hour

At last, the Top model, and also the most brutal of all, the CYBERBEAST. This variant happens to be the Top variant; it can go up to 515 kms on one single charge. If it is fitted with a Range extender, then it can take it up to 700 kms of range. This beast can accelerate from 0 - 100 in 2.6 seconds, which is blisteringly fast for a vehicle that weighs more than 3 tons.

Tesla CYBERTRUCK Expected India Launch

The Tesla CYBERTRUCK has definitely got a lot of time to make its way in India, as Tesla itself has not yet been established in India. So, we can expect a time period of about 4 - 5 years, which tells us that the CYBERTRUCK might make it to India in 2027.

Tesla CYBERTRUCK Expected India Price

It is said that Tesla is about to shift its manufacturing base to India. So, if this goodness happens, then we can have this beast’s pricing start from ₹50 lacs and go up to ₹1 Cr.
