​Thar Roxx teasers have already revealed a lot of information and details about the Thar 5-door. Even during the launch of the Curvv EV, the Thar Roxx has its buzz maintained, as it is India’s first proper 5-door Off-roading SUV. The Thar Roxx is set to launch on August 15, 2024, like most of the Mahindra car launches. But, we have something even spicy about the Thar Roxx - There are running a few strong speculations about some key details of the Thar Roxx, revealing its New Platform, Engine, and Off-road Capability Details. 

Thar Roxx New Platform

The Thar Roxx will sit above the Thar 3-door and sort of stand alongside the current Scorpio N in Mahindra’s lineup of SUVs. The Thar Roxx’s platform will be derived from the Scorpio N and Thar 3-door’s platform. 

The name of the platform is ‘3G’ and it is a Ladder-on-Frame chassis. It was first, introduced in the Thar 3-door’s launch, then was seen underpinning the Scorpio N. But, the same platform will not be underpinning the Thar Roxx because Mahindra will introduce an updated version of the 3G Platform, which is speculated to be called the New ‘4G Platform’. 

This platform could undergo minor changes to make the off-road capabilities and overall performance of the platform better compared to its predecessor - the 3G Platform. Moreover, the speculations also state that the New 4G Platform of the Thar Roxx will be 40 Kg lighter than the 3G Platform. 

Thar Roxx will be Safer compared to Thar 3-door

The speculations also state that the Thar Roxx will have some additions of Advanced High-Strength Steel in its body structure. This will make the Thar Roxx safer than the Thar 3-door. 

The Thar 3-door had already scored 4 Stars in both Child and Adult Occupancy Safety Crash tests. These tests were conducted by Global NCAP. 

These additions of Advanced High-Strength Steel will provide better rigidity to the body structure of the Thar Roxx. It will definitely score better than the Thar 3-door in the Crash Tests if conducted, as it will maintain Mahindra’s image of producing safer SUVs for India. 

Thar Roxx Engine Details

Thar Roxx will get a set of two Engine options. These two Engine options will be sourced from other big Mahindra SUVs - Scorpio N, Thar 3-door, and XUV 7OO. But, these engines will updated slightly to match with modern terms and also will be tuned differently to serve the purpose Thar Roxx wants to fulfill. 

2.0 L mHawk Turbo Petrol Engine - Now, this engine will be tuned in two different ways - One for the Lower variants and the other one for the Higher variants. 

2.0 L mHawk Turbo Petrol Engine for Lower Variants will produce 160 hp and 330 Nm torque. This engine will be made available with a 6-speed Manual and a 6-speed automatic Gearbox. On the other hand, the same engine for Higher variants will produce 175 hp and 380 Nm torque. This engine will also be made available with a 6-speed Manual and a 6-speed Automatic Gearbox. 

2.2 L mHawk Turbo Diesel Engine - This engine will also be tuned in two different ways to deliver for both Lower and Higher variants. 

2.2 L mHawk Turbo Diesel Engine for Lower variants will produce 150 hp and 350 Nm torque. This engine will be made available with both a 6-speed Manual and a 6-speed Automatic Gearbox. On the other hand, the same for Higher variants will produce 172 hp and 380 Nm torque. This engine will also have the same Gearboxes of 6-speed Manual and Automatic.

Thar Roxx Off-road Mechanicals

Both of these engines will be mated to a 4X4 Off-road system that will be derived from the Thar 3-door. They will have an Electronic Brake Locking Differential and an Electronic Locking Differential. Moreover, these engines will also have various Driving modes - Snow, Sand, Mud, Rock, etc. All of this will be accessible with mechanical levers, like in the Thar 3-door, the lever will have 2H, 4L, and 4H for better off-roading capabilities. 

Secondly, the leak also stated that the Thar Roxx’s Approach Angle would be 41.3 Degrees, the Departure Angle would be 36.1 Degrees, and the Ramp Over angle would be 23.6 Degrees. Water Wading Capacity of the Thar Roxx will be similar to the Thar 3-door, which is 650 mm. Bonus: The Thar Roxx will get Disc Brakes for all Four wheels. 

Thar Roxx Launch Date and Price Details

The Thar Roxx is all set to be launched on August 15, 2024. Most of the Mahindra SUVs have been launched on this particular date, and so, will the Thar Roxx 

The Price of the Thar Roxx could start from ₹13 lakh and go up to ₹20 lakh.
