Maybe this is why the Former World’s Biggest Automaker decided to bring out its first-ever Electric SUV about eight years ago (as of 2023). Yes, you are precisely there! We are talking about the Tesla. But, do you wonder which car of theirs we are talking about?

2024 Tesla Model X Official india launch price review

With strong speculations of Tesla making its debut on the Indian roads, we shall not forget this particular SUV. The Tesla Model X for India . Well, the Model X is the third most expected launch from the American Auto giant in the Indian Automobile Market, after the Tesla Model 3 India launch, followed by the Tesla Model S India launch

Therefore, before it marks its first kilometers onto Indian roads, why not get known to this SUV already? So, this article will help us explore the Tesla Model X's India-specific model and the Tesla Model X's India price.

About Tesla Model X

Tesla Model X was first showcased in the year 2012 and promised its launch to take place in 2014. But, due to one of its very cool features, which we will discuss later, Tesla had to postpone its launch to late 2014. Unfortunately, the brand further delayed its launch to the second quarter of 2015. And then finally! One more rescheduling of dates took place. Yes! Still waiting! This time, the promise went directly to the third quarter of 2015. And now we can say - Finally, it was launched on 29 September 2015.

The Model X is basically a Full-size Electric SUV from the brand, which caters to the Premium Luxurious segment, in simple words - the one where the BMW X5, Jaguar F-Pace, Volvo XC90, and Porsche Cayenne

It sits on the same platform on which the Tesla Model S is currently running. So, we might find a lot of similarities, indicating Model S in the Model X. We believe that Tesla Model X’s India-specific model will also sit on the same platform.

Exterior: Beefed-up Model S.

Yep, a beefed-up Model. You read it right. Well, Tesla wanted to make a Premium Luxurious Electric SUV, so why would they spend millions of Dollars on a new platform when they already have one? It's just with some Sedan characteristics, though. This is why you should see the Model X; even though it is an SUV, it sits slightly low.

The Front of the Tesla Model X, exactly replicates the Model S, as we talked about. The design flow of the overall front is smooth and uniform, but its uniformity breaks at its nose. Where we can see a ‘Black provision’ has been made to accommodate the Tesla logo. Coming down, being an EV, it is evident that it would have its front fully packed to be Aerodynamically efficient. Air curtains have been included at both the lower corners to make the airflow around the vehicle more smooth and free-flowing; these curtains also hold Fog Lamps. Air dams have been included at the lower bumper for better cooling management of the battery. But, if you observe it carefully, you will not be able to distinguish between Model X and Model S. They look exactly the same.

Even the Headlights are very similar to the Model S in terms of both Technology and Design. They get an inclusion of LED beams, which sit above the LED DRL strip.

On the Side, it is where we notice the difference. As we can see, the Model X has been stretched from both - Height and Length to make it look bulkier than the Model S. Starting from the wheels, you can opt for either 20-inches or 22-inches, though the 20-inches Alloys are available as standard. Moving upwards, the design flow, as usual, is plain and smooth, with no sharp lines or cuts to make it look striking. The door handles are plush in the primary body line; they extract out when you unlock or are near the SUV. As we said, the car has been stretched in both height & length; we can see that as it is taller. Due to this, its roof tends to have a sloping form, and due to its low rear overhang, its tailgate, compared to its hood, stands taller. Further, it makes the EV look like a coupe.

Now, remember, we talked about a very cool feature, due to which its launch was delayed. Well, it is with the doors, as this SUV comes equipped with Falcon-wings-like doors. They do not open in a traditional side format; they rise upwards, further spreading themselves like wings. It is the coolest thing, at least, we have ever seen in any car.

At the Rear, we can see that almost every bit present at the rear is very similar to that of the Model S. Then be it the Tal lights, which have a 3D effect to it, the Glossy black line showcasing Tesla in writing. Still, we can see some changes, starting with the Rear glass, which is longer as the overall EV is taller and longer than the Model S; the Spoiler treatment has also been added; and the rear lower bumper has a simple, plain design affair. And as we discussed earlier, the rear stance is taller than its hood.

The design as a whole is crafted to cater to aero efficiency, further increasing the driving range, as it is the most practical vehicle in its line-up.

In terms of Tech on the outside, it gets a slew of ADAS features, which facilitate in both ways - Utilitarian and Safety.

Interior: Addition of two seats, rest same.

The interiors are of the Facelifted Model X are nothing to discuss, as it is precisely the same as the Model S’ interior. Then be it in terms of Technology, Layout, and Design. However, adding two seats in the Third row adds some contrast to the interiors.

Looking at the dashboard, it is simple plain, but not basic! It is exposed, as it has just one big screen to obtain particular vehicular information. And as the dashboard is exposed, Tesla had to use some excellent soft-touch materials for it. Though an Instrument cluster supports this big screen, obviously behind the Steering wheel, it is not that useful, as it shows minimal information. Well, as we have come to the steering wheel, it actually gets two kinds of wheels: First, a traditional Round one, and Second, a not-so-traditional Yoke-styled one.

The center console needs a bit of utility. Still, it gets two Wireless charging pads right below the screen and hidden Cup holders. An armrest can also be seen included.

Now, about the Tech in use. It is an overload, to say the least. That humongous 17-inch screen is a door for almost every Mechanical and Technical feature the Model X has. Be it Climate controls it is included in the screen, and you can also control the flow of individual AC vents through the screen itself. Terrain modes are included in the screen and can be customized according to their use; Tesla’s entire Navigation system is also included in the screen. Last, in case you are having difficulty looking at the screen, maybe reflections would be a problem; no worries, because you can now tilt the whole screen towards left or right for better usability. And if you are also feeling bored sitting in the car while it gets charged, no worries again, because it gets a load of entertaining features like OTT platforms and Games. It can also be connected to PS5.

Well, such a screen, but smaller, is also available for the rear passengers. However, they can access almost every feature we mentioned except vehicular information. So, this tells us how much of an entertainer the Tesla Model X is.

The Model X, a Full-size SUV, will surely contain a third row of seats. But there is also a change in the middle row. Unlike the Model S, where you would see a bench seat in the second sow, in the Model X, you are going to be offered a set of Captain seats. And in the third row, you get a typical set of two seats in a bench format, which, by the way, are also tremendously uncomfortable for adults on Long trips.

Battery

The 2023 Model X, like the Model S, gets two options in terms of batteries. The first is a 77 kWh battery pack, which powers the AWD variant of the Model X. The Second is a 100 kWh battery pack that powers the Plaid variant of the Model X.

Though there are two variants of the Model X, we will be talking about the AWD variant only, as it has the most evident that the India-specific Tesla Model X will be available in the AWD form only.

The AWD variant, as said, gets a 77 kWh battery pack. It produces a total of 500 Km of Driving range . The battery generates 675hp of power , with the help of Dual Motors connected to both the Front and Back wheels, which further makes it able to accelerate from 0 - 100 in 3.8 seconds .

Model X INDIA Launch & Expected Price

Well, our expectations for the 2023 Tesla Model X to launch in India say that it would take quite a time, as Tesla would plan its India entrance with the Tesla Model 3's India launch, followed by the Tesla Model S India Launch, and then Tesla Model X's India launch. Therefore, we believe late 2025 or early 2026 will be the time period when we could see the Tesla Model X being launched in India.

Speaking of the expected price, the 2023 Tesla Model X India price will be sensitive, as it will be built in the upcoming Tesla Gigafactory in India. Thus, we expect the Tesla Model X in India to roam around ₹75 lakhs to ₹1 Crore .
