Tata Motors has had a good start to 2025—it launched updated versions of most of its models, revealed some of the most anticipated SUVs at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, and showcased some incredible future EV plans for India. All of this tells us that Tata Motors has been cooking something delicious for a long time now, and it does make sense to wait for its upcoming cars. So, here are the Top five Upcoming Tata cars to wait for in 2025—
5. Tata Nexon iCNG Red DARK
Tata Motors revealed that they will be launching a more premium-looking variant of the Nexon iCNG— Nexon iCNG Red Dark. The Red Dark Red Dark Edition was first showcased in the Harrier and Safari’s pre-facelift models. The Nexon facelift will be the first of all facelift Tata SUVs to get this edition.
The Red Dark edition offers a premium Red upholstery for its seats.
The Nexon iCNG is already an amazing innovation, as it solves the biggest problem in all of CNG cars, which is boot space. The Nexon ICE offers 360 L of boot space, and in the iCNG variants— the CNG tanks take up only 60 L, which leaves over 300 L of usable space in the boot.
The Nexon iCNG is also the first CNG car to get its CNG setup mated with a Turbo Petrol engine— 1.2 L Revotron Turbo Petrol engine. This engine (when in Petrol mode) produces 120 hp and 170 Nm torque, and (when in CNG mode) it loses 20 hp— 100 hp and 170 Nm torque. It is only available with a 5-speed Manual Gearbox.
It gets a lot of technology as well being a CNG car— 10.25’ Infotainment screen and 10.25’ Instrument Cluster, Automatic Climate Control, Panoramic Sunroof, Ventilated Seats, 360-degree Camera system, etc.
The launch of the Nexon iCNG Red Dark Edition is expected to take place before May 2025.
Tata Motors launched the Punch.ev back in the initial phase of 2024. No one expected the Punch EV to receive a design update, as everyone was anticipating it to be a usual, boring ICE-coversion-to-EV kind of car. But, Tata Motors shocked everyone by offering a lot more than expected— a New Acti.ev platform, New design, New Tech, etc.
It has been a year since then, and everyone is now waiting for the new Punch design language to be carried over to the Punch ICE. This new design follows the new design heritage of Tata Motors, which was revealed in the Curvv.ev reveal event, and since then, every Tata SUV has got it.
It includes the same design setup upfront, which is a Split Headlamp setup. But, this time, the headlamps will be LEDs and it will also host a connected LED DRL. There is a slight chance for the brand to offer ADAS in the Punch to increase its popularity and exclusivity even more, as it is the most selling Tata car every month.
On the inside, it will have a revised design for the dashboard with the same 10.25’ Infotainment screen. It will also get a new 10.25’ Instrument cluster, which will be derived from the Punch EV. This cluster will be a fully digital screen with a Map display feature. A new fabric and design for the seats will also be introduced.
Under the hood, the Punch is rich with plenty of engine options - Petrol, CNG, and Electric. The Petrol engine offers a 1.2 L 3-cylinder unit that produces 87 hp and 115 Nm torque. It is available with a 5-speed Manual and 5-speed AMT. With the CNG engine, it uses the same 1.2 L unit, which produces 72 hp and 103 Nm torque. It is only available with a 5-speed Manual Gearbox. The EV derivative of the Punch gets two battery packs - 25 kWh and 35 kWh. It can run up to 300 km in real-world conditions.
We believe that with the 2025 update, Tata Motors might bring in a Punch Racer with the new 1.2 L GDi Petrol engine that produces 125 hp and 225 Nm torque.
The launch of the 2025 Punch is expected to happen post-June 2025.
3. Harrier EV
Harrier EV was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo in 2025. Tata Motors revealed it with style, as the Harrier EV came on the stage on its own (with no driver inside). They call this “Summon mode.” The Harrier EV is expected to be Tata Motors' most advanced car to date, as it will get a load of Autonomous driving aids. It will rival the BE 6 and XEV 9E from Mahindra and others, like the BYD Atto 3, etc.
The Harrier EV will revive the Harrier ICE design but, with Tata.ev design additions, like a closed grille with chrome line elements. The Interiors, too, will have the same treatment given— They will have white shade inputs here and there. Overall, the SUV will be made more opulent and luxurious in terms of its appearance.
The feature aspect will be updated heavily. We expect it to have Auto-Parking, more ADAS Level 2 features than Harrier ICE, Independent suspensions, etc.
The powertrain will be packing a battery pack of about 75 kWh. This battery pack will power Two Motors, one placed at the rear and the other at the front— Making the Harrier EV, an All Wheel Drive vehicle. The real-world range is expected to be more than 500 km. The power figures of this battery pack are expected to be around 200-250 hp and 400 Nm torque.
The Harrier EV will likely be launched by late 2025.
2. Tata Sierra EV
Tata’s next big thing is the Sierra line-up of cars. The first one to talk about is the Sierra.ev. This upcoming Tata Electric SUV packs a lot of legacy and is regarded as a legend. Recently, at the Bharat Mobility Expo of 2025, Tata Motors showcased the production-ready design of the Sierra ICE, which will not be that different from the Sierra EV that we are speaking of right now.
The Sierra EV will have the exact same boxy design structure as its ICE derivative. But, it will have the obvious changes being a Tata.ev— Closed Grille with chrome line elements, Simple and Clever design language, etc.
On the inside, the Sierra EV will be rich with premium materials and modern-day Tata technology— a 12.25’ Infotainment screen, a 10.25’ Instrument Cluster, and a 10.25’ Co-Driver’s display for Entertainment purposes. The third screen in the Sierra EV will make the SUV be Tata Motors’ first car to have a three-screen layout. Other than this, it will also get a Dual-zone Automatic Climate Control, 360-degree Camera system, ADAS Level 2, Automated Parking, Electric Adjust for Front Seats with Ventilation function, Rear Ventilated Seats, Panoramic sunroof, etc.
The Sierra EV will be packing the same mechanicals from the Harrier EV— a 75 kWh Battery pack with 200-250 hp & 400 Nm torque, Independent suspensions, and All Wheel Drive powertrain with Two motors.
The launch of the Sierra EV is expected to take place by May 2025.
1. Tata Sierra ICE
As we spoke about the Sierra EV, a bigger launch than the Sierra EV has to be the Sierra ICE. After all, the original Sierra was all about its extreme capabilities and pure SUV traits. Most Importantly, the Sierra ICE happens to be more important to Tata Motors than the Sierra EV— as the ICE’s production-ready version was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo of 2025.
We have a better and much clearer vision of the Sierra ICE’s design, as it has been fully revealed by the brand. It will carry simplicity from one end to another. Starting from the front end, it will have a blacked-out grille with connected DRLs on the top and small cubical LED beams as headlamps. It will run on 19’ Alloy wheels with diamond cut finish, Flush Door handles, ADAS Level 2, etc. It will get a few rugged-looking elements, like the Skid plate finished in Silver shade. The Side profile will be kept simple but, with a few modern-day luxury touches— a glossy finish for wheel arches. The Rear end will be a straight 90-degree cut with a huge Tata logo and Sierra font.
Unlike, the original Sierra, the new Sierra will not have its traditional design of a 2-door SUV. To cater to a wider range of audience, Tata Motors rather decided to make the Sierra ICE more practical and convenient by offering a conventional 5-door format. More to it, neither will the Sierra get the Tailgate-mounted Spare wheel.
Under the hood, the Sierra will be similar to other big Tata SUVs. It will get the same 1.5 L Kryjet Diesel engine from the Altroz, Nexon, and Curvv. This engine produces 116 hp and 260 Nm torque. It is available with a 6-speed Manual Transmission and, recently, Tata Motors also introduced it with a 7-speed DCA Transmission.
The Sierra might also offer the 1.2 L Turbo GDi Petrol engine from the Curvv. It produces 125 hp and 225 Nm torque. It is mated with a 6-speed Manual and a 7-speed DCA Gearbox.
Moreover, the Sierra will also be the first Tata car to get Tata’s new-age and most powerful Turbo GDi Petrol— 1.5 L Turbo GDi Petrol engine producing 170 hp and 280 Nm torque. This engine will be mated to a 6-speed Manual Gearbox and 7-speed DCA Transmisison.
The Sierra ICE is less likely to offer an AWD or 4x4 drivetrain.
The launch of the Sierra ICE is expected to happen by May 2025.
